Despite the development of modern teaching methods and ways of entertainment, ordinary reading remains one of the popular forms of leisure. Endless rows of letters add up to long phrases, helping a person to get to know the world around him better or immerse himself in the universe of other people's fantasies. But here the question arises: how readable is the text? This is a significant enough point, because you do not want to waste time on boring novels or scientific works compiled from unreliable data. What is the fundamental meaning of such an assessment?

Russian-English duet

The word "readable" is based on a classic verb, strongly associated with the perception of textual information on any suitable medium:

  • stone tablet;
  • birch bark;
  • paper book;
  • electronic reader;
  • computer screen, etc.

Only the suffix -abel- causes bewilderment, which cannot be found in most Russian words. All because of the partial tracing paper with readable, which means “readable” in English. However, on the territory of Russia there was already a similarterm, so we took only part of able:

  • possible to;
  • available for.

And then added to the concept under study, creating a completely new word with an unusual meaning.

Readable text - for people; readable - for computers
Readable text - for people; readable - for computers

The difference in opportunities and desires

The classic "readable" indicates the openness of the material to the end user. You can make some effort or use special tools to extract the information. This concept has a completely different function, being addressed to the text.

What is readable text? What is its base value? This means:

  • readable;
  • decent level of writing;
  • personal-appropriate piece.

When it comes to fiction, imply incredible interest, original plot twists and memorable characters. Textbooks can also receive a quality mark for an accessible presentation, the time it takes for a student to master knowledge. Additional meaning differs little from the main one:

  • readable;
  • pleasant to read;
  • easily perceived.

In the first case, they talk about the level of work done by the author, in the second - about the interest of the reader.

Unreadable texts are a source of torment

Value judgment

How relevant is the word? Let “readable” be an element of conversational style, it remains intuitiveunderstandable to contemporaries. Already, the term slips both in communication and in the classroom - from the lips of teachers. This is an elegant wording for denoting a source that is beautiful in form and content, acquaintance with which, if it does not bring new knowledge, will certainly leave a pleasant impression.
