Sometimes people do stupid things and don't think about it until they realize that their actions look absurd, stupid and pointless. At the same time, everyone understands the meaning of the word "ridiculous." However, not everyone knows its origin. And many more do not even realize how ridiculous life situations can be.
If there is "ridiculous", then there must be "stupid"?
For the hearing of a modern person, the word "stupid" sounds unusual. Nevertheless, it is in explanatory dictionaries, and in former times it was actively used in Russian speech. Its main meanings are: "good", "beautiful", "plausible". All this was applicable to people and their actions.
To denote the exact opposite, a negative prefix was added to the word "stupid". This is how the word “ridiculous” appeared, which at first meant “ugly” and “incoherent”, and later - “meaningless” and “empty”.
Over time, the word "stupid" disappeared from everyday life, and the rarely used "nonsense" remained its echo. But its derivative has not been lost for centuries, we often say “absurd” withsynonymous with "meaningless", "stupid", "stupid", "absurd", "delusional", or "absurd".

But the supreme ruler of the Holy See became famous not so much for his religious and scientific activities, but for his ridiculous death. In order to meditate in silence, he built an extension to the palace in Viterbo, the roof of which collapsed on his head.
As for ridiculous actions, as practice shows,most of them happen to people very drunk. For example, a drunken resident of Kirov, having found neither a driver nor a conductor in a trolleybus, decided to take himself home. Fortunately, after a block, the current collectors were torn off near the trolleybus and the unfortunate driver did not have time to break firewood with a drunken ride.
Or a wonderful story with a drunken resident of Grodno, who, having come home drunk in the smoke, managed to fall asleep in a narrow space between the wall and the toilet, from where he was removed by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
And sometimes alcohol pushes entire companies to do ridiculous things. So, a dozen well-drinking guys and a girl from the city of Korkino were drawn in the middle of the night to enjoy the beauty of their native places from the Ferris wheel. The way up was easy for them, but the rescuers lowered the unlucky climbers back, whom the frightened guys themselves called, having sobered up with fear.
Agree, it's better to look ridiculous and even funny than to do similar things. Moreover, they do not always end happily, and the heroes often face sad glory in the crime news column.
