What is a cliff? A seemingly simple word. But, believe me, only the first. In fact, you can talk about it for hours, the main thing is to decide on the direction, and there are at least three of them.

What is a cliff yet? This is a village with the same name, a wonderful place on the Crimean peninsula. It is quiveringly and gently washed by two seas: the Azov and the Black. On the territory of Kuchuk Lambat (as the Utes village used to be called), not far from Alushta, a symbol of eternal and pure love was erected. Princess Gagarina built a castle in the ancient German style in memory of her dead husband. Only the best materials were purchased for its construction, the most famous craftsmen were invited for complex work with the Venetianglass, marble, tiles, ceramic tiles.
The castle is surrounded by an old park, and the complex included a house church and a hospital that worked free of charge for local residents. At the moment, the sanatorium "Utes" is located in the castle. Photos of buildings and surrounding areas are fascinating to this day. Numerous tourists go there not just to relax, but to recharge with the atmosphere of a reverent feeling - true love.
Crimea
For the sake of fairness, it should be said that the Utes village is not only the famous castle of Princess Gagarina, it is a whole network of hotels of different levels, offering numerous effective types of treatment and forms of recreation. There is an active movement of divers in Crimea, as at the bottom of the seas washing the peninsula there is a huge number of old ships that attract lovers of extreme sports and history. Horseback riding, caving and rock climbing are popular.
No less interest is attracted by the historical monuments left by the ancient peoples who lived on the territory of the peninsula. The list of the most famous, of course, was supplemented by the Utes settlement, in which the castle of Princess Gagarina is located. No less famous is the Bakhchisarai Khan's Palace, the famous Livadia Palace. You should definitely visit the reserves and waterfalls of Crimea.

Besides the Crimean "Cliff", several settlements in the world proudly bear the same name. For example, in Missouri and in New Mexico (USA) there are such villages; in England, the area of the city of Salford is so named. There is an eponymouseducational institution in Derbyshire (England), there is a Christian theological college. This is the name of the Pacific cyclone of 2007.

What is a cliff in terms of literary criticism? This is a lot. This is the title of one of the most famous poems by M. Yu. Lermontov. It seems that everyone will remember the first lines: "A golden cloud spent the night on the chest of a giant's cliff …". A small creation has a deep meaning, it raises the theme of unrequited love and loneliness. The meaning of the word "cliff" in this case is very conditional. A subtle parallel between images and symbols allows readers to plunge into the depths of their own experiences and thoughts. Moreover, this parallel of images formed the basis of the poem "Romance" and "Time for the heart to be at rest." The latter was created by Lermontov in 1841. He was highly appreciated by compatriots (Belinsky V., Gorky M.), and A. P. Chekhov, the first two lines became the epigraph to the story "On the Way".
