One way or another, we use the word "torture" in our vocabulary. And not always thinking about its true meaning.
Torture is a word with a frightening meaning. It is enough to look back to the past, and we will see what it is like.
In order not to use words in vain, we will tell in the material about what torture is. And why people with mental disabilities love them so much.
Definition
Torture is the infliction of physical, psychological or combined suffering. The main goal is to get the necessary information from a person. Less often, torture is used by persons with mental disabilities. In this case, they are produced to satisfy their sadistic needs.
Where did it all come from?
As you know, torture is the most terrible murder weapon of antiquity. In ancient Greece, Rome and China, the executioners were still those inventors. It was there that terrifying instruments of torture were invented, which even make modern man tremble.
Middle Ages
A lot is known about torture during this period of time. Especially during the witch hunt. Poor women who don'twere involved in witchcraft, forced to confess in connection with unclean spirits.
It is not known what is worse: torture with the help of special devices or "kind" mockery. There was even such a way: a woman was tied with a stone around her neck and thrown into the river. Came out - she is a witch. Drowned - was innocent. Although it looks like torture in the least. More like execution. But this event was characterized precisely as "torture".
When was it cancelled?
Gradually, torture began to be canceled for people. It all started in England, and ended in Russia. The period of abolition is from 1700 to 1800. This is the official version, of course.
If you look back at the Soviet Union, you can learn a lot of interesting things. In the most honest and just country, such tortures took place within the walls of the NKVD that the most notorious executioners of antiquity never dreamed of. In their sophistication, they surpassed all the tools invented in very distant times.
Goals
As a rule, terrible tortures were carried out to obtain any information. And often it is not at all necessary that it be true. The main thing is to receive, and everything else is secondary.
Going back to the days of the Soviet Union, when in the mid-1930s the NKVD tortured priests and persons related to the church, the main goal was to "knock out" a confession from a person. In the case of the priests, they had to say that they were campaigning aimed at undermining the authority of the current government.
Of course, the confession was knocked out in the literal sense of the word. If a person did not say what he wanted, the torture became more and more sophisticated. Archimandrite John (Krestyankin), who visited the camps for his faith, recalls his namesake tormentor, investigator Ivan Mikhailovich. He promised that the defendant Krestyankin would remember him for the rest of his life. And my father remembered. And how else, if he broke all the fingers of a person. The brushes remained crippled. Although official torture was abolished at the time.
Psychological perversions
Torture (the most terrible) was not carried out in ancient times. And not within the walls of the NKVD. And not even in modern times. People with psychological disabilities torture their victims the most painfully.
If the main purpose of torture is to obtain the necessary information, then in this case it is different. Obtaining moral or sexual satisfaction.
Reading interviews with the worst maniacs of all time, you always come across this statement of fact. The Inhumans calmly talk about torturing their victims for hours or days until they could resist. And looking at their suffering received just crazy pleasure.
Really crazy. Because for ordinary people, all these descriptions of torture cause a feeling of horror. Only a mentally disabled person is able to enjoy the pain of others.
Types of torture instruments in the Middle Ages
We will not provide full details of torture photos. It's too creepy to see. Let's talk about sometools used in antiquity to carry out nightmarish actions.
- "Heretic Fork". The device was a copper bident. Attached to the neck of the martyr. The main horror of torture was that a person died from blood poisoning. That is slow and painful. The plug did not hit any vital arteries.
- "Pear". Another ugly weapon. The essence of this torture is the unbearable pain that was inflicted on a person. "Pear" tortured both men and women. Its essence is that the object was inserted into the genitals of a woman, or into the anus of a man. And with the help of a special lever, it opened inside. Considering that the opening was the disintegration of the "pear" into slices fastened together, it becomes obvious what kind of torment the person experienced.
- "Cage with rats". Another monstrous torture. A person was stripped to the waist, laid on his back, and tied. A cage with rats was placed on his stomach. It opened at the bottom, and coals were lit at the top. The heat began to act, frightened animals were looking for a way out. To save themselves, they gnawed through the human body.
"The Iron Maiden". Sarcophagus with spikes. Moreover, the spikes were located in such a way that they could not touch important organs when pressed. The martyr was placed inside the sarcophagus and closed. Thorns tore through flesh. Such torture could last for several days. As soon as a person lost strength, he lost consciousness. And at the same moment he fell on the spikes, piercing the body through and through
"Camel hat". Behind the cute name hides inhuman torture. The martyr's hair was shaved from his head. After that, the skin of a freshly skinned camel was pulled over it. And they were taken to wastelands under the scorching sun. Under the rays, the camel's skin wrinkled and tightened, tightly clasping the human head, squeezing it. Hair could not grow through the "hat". They started to grow inside. It took five days for a person to die in terrible agony
Torment in the East
If you think that the instruments of torture described above are the worst thing that could be, then you are mistaken.
Physical pain is not always as bad as psychological pressure. The most terrible tortures are associated with the destruction of the human psyche, sleep deprivation and hitting with water. They were invented in the East.
- "A drop of water". The executioners seated the victim on a chair. They tied it well so that the tortured person could not move. A large stone was fixed on top in such a way that it was located above the head of the martyr. Water was falling from this stone in small drops. And the droplets landed on the head of the tortured. Three days later, the man went crazy.
- "Sleep deprivation". Another very cruel torture. The tormentors beat the offender with a whip when he tried to sleep. Five to seven days after such a mockery, the martyr went crazy or died.
- "Transformation into a pig". Torture is not only physical or psychological violence, but also combined. Like a savagery called "turning into a pig." Tortured cut offarms to the elbow and legs to the knee. They cut out the tongue, blinded, deafened. And in this form, he lived out the rest of his days in a barn with pigs.
The worst torture
In fact, they are all monstrous in their cruelty. And yet, the most vile was invented by a woman. No matter how wild it may sound, the Persian queen Parysatis became her "mother".
She ordered to push the body of the tormented man between two wooden troughs. Outside, leave only the head and spread it with milk and honey. This mixture attracted the attention of midges, which immediately clung to the person. This bloodthirsty woman was not enough. She gave the order to force-feed the martyr so that he would develop diarrhea. As a result, worms appeared in closed troughs that ate a person alive.
Of course, such atrocity can be attributed to the fact that the person executed in this way killed the queen's son. And yet, this is a very heinous and terrible punishment. The man was dying for almost 3 weeks.
Conclusion
We found out that torture is a physical and moral mockery of a person. Its main goal is to obtain the necessary information from the martyr. Less often, torture is used to satisfy the sadistic needs of the tormentor.
