Oddly enough, the matter that is called "bombazine" was often found on the pages of novels about antiquity - this is the well-known bumazeya.

What does this word mean? This was originally called dense silk material, then they began to designate textiles with this name, the main threads in which were linen or silk, and the weft threads were made of short-staple cotton (which formed a low pile on the wrong side) or wool.

Bombazin became completely cotton due to the appearance of long-staple cotton. It was made using the twill or crepe weave method, resulting in a dense, but rather thin fabric, which has a smooth front surface and a fluffy back side.

At the same time bombazin,which received the name bumazeya in Russia, was originally painted in soft colors, mostly black. Black fabric was considered the most suitable for practical and inexpensive mourning dresses that were worn until the beginning of the last century, while lighter colors were used for everyday and formal wear.

Bleached cotton fumes appeared later and was used for warm clothes, and for the cold season they began to sew practical women's and children's clothing from printed material.

Views

The twill weave method is used to make modern faux fur, less often the plain weave method. Cotton fibers of medium length are used for it, of which, with the help of special equipment, a low soft pile is brought to the wrong side.

As a rule, the density of fumes is from one hundred and sixty to two hundred and sixty grams per square meter. Cheap short pile cotton is almost always looser and heavier.

Main types of boumazeya:

  • harsh;
  • bleached;
  • printed, usually has a children's theme, as well as "oriental" and floral bright patterns;
  • plainly dyed in light colors (usually pink, blue, rarely yellow), as well as all kinds of bright colors;
  • plain with a pattern on the front side of smooth and brushed fragments.

However, bleached pile cotton is still widely used for sewing army warm underwear. The technical use is for harsh pile textiles, it is used as a lining in shoes and as other internal parts. Rules of care

Although cotton tolerates the high temperature of the iron well, all washing modes, fumes at too high a temperature and strong mechanical stress wear out quickly and lose lint. In warm water, you need to wash this fabric, without the use of bleaching agents, and dry it in a straightened state, out of the sun. You can only iron completely dry items - in the "Cotton" mode on the front side.

Flannelette, flannel and bouffant. Difference

Bumazeya is close to the bike, but it is thinner, although thicker than flannel. A brief description of flannel is present in Dahl's dictionary - it is a thin baize, soft fleecy fabric. In another dictionary, the word "bumazee" is given to the word "flannel" as a synonym. So, what is bumazea? This is a material that is almost similar to flannel and baize. These fabrics are almost identical, and the words denoting them are essentially synonyms.
