Creating regions
Today, the list of Russian regions (2013) includes ninety-five subjects. By presidential decree, which was signed in 2000, on May 13, all subjects of Russia were united into seven federal districts. These are the Southern, Central, Siberian, Volga, North-Western, Ural and Far Eastern regions. Each of them has its own administrative center, they consist of regions and territories.

The largest region
The largest region of Russia is Tyumen. Its area is approximately equal to 1436 km. sq. - this is 8.4% of the entire territory of the country. There are such large cities as Surgut, Tyumen, Nizhnevartovsk, Tobolsk and many others. There are 3,264,841 citizens of the Russian Federation living in the Tyumen region, representing 120 different nationalities. The population density is not very high. So, for one square kilometer there are only 2, 2 people. But in terms of the number of residents, of course, Moscow still remains in the first place.
