Our world is such that it is filled with the specific. This statement does not require proof. But everything is not so simple. In fact, there are two forces at work in reality - one that averages everything, and one that craves individuality. Man plays by the rules of all nature: he has both the individual and the general. Today we will analyze the meaning of the word "specific". Maybe this is what will allow us to find harmony.

Meaning

The subject matter is not as simple as it seems. Because it's hard to define it. There are a variety of goods (the word is taken in a broad sense) "not for everyone": films, books, dishes, places or ways of relaxing. But at the same time, there are people who form a group of lovers of exceptions, and in their environment these products do not carry the “specific” marker. On the contrary, this is the most common thing for them. The example shows that there is no such thing as exceptional, it all depends on what a person is used to.

We'll talk about this a little later, but for nowlet's look at the dictionary. So, specific is “special, distinctive, peculiar only to a given object, phenomenon.”

But sometimes features are a fact, not a matter of taste

Because of the previous reasoning, the reader may accuse us of sophistry in the worst sense of the word. And he will be partly right. And all because sometimes the characteristic features are present and really make an object or person special. In humans, scars on the body or face can serve as such signs. If we talk about other defining and memorable details, then these are, for example, skills that are characteristic only for this person or for a very small number of people. By the way, tattoos can make a person stand out from the crowd. But not those who do it for money, but those who get stuck in the special forces, like the hero of the film "Lethal Weapon" (1987) by Martin Riggs.

If we talk about objects that stand out against the general background, then this can be a mug with a pattern or a crack. By the way, the following exercise can be recommended to the reader as homework: let him observe and highlight the specific in the objects around him. This technique trains both the knowledge of Russian and the tenacity of perception.

Synonyms

You can pick up a lot of substitutions if you wish. But we do not deviate from our code and try not to burden the reader. Therefore, only the best synonyms are included in the list:

  • characteristic;
  • peculiar;
  • individual;

  • original.

This seems to be enough to get some idea. The reader, if he understood the semantic content of adjectives, can easily continue this series. For various reasons, many beautiful words have been left out of the list. For the rest, we hope that the specific is the adjective that no longer raises questions.
