By the second century AD, the Great Roman Empire had formed, dominating vast territories from England to North Africa, including the entire Mediterranean coast, as well as the Black Sea coast located in the south.
By the fourth century, Rome was already the Christian center of the whole world, but at the same time it lost its position in the economic sphere.
Throughout its long history, Rome has endured many conflicts, including the bloody conquest of the city by the French. The heads of the Catholic Church have been taken out of the city many times.
