A Brief History of the School
Voronezh State Pedagogical University (VSPU) started its existence in 1931. More than eighty years ago, on the basis of one of the faculties of the Voronezh State University, the then Voronezh Pedagogical Institute was created. The current name of the educational institution was acquired in 1993. For success in training highly qualified personnel, the institute was renamed into a university by order of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

So, the Faculty of Humanities has the richest history. Despite the fact that September 1, 2011 is considered the date of its official formation, the actual formation of the historical and philological buildings took place from the moment the university was formed.
The leading Soviet historians, teachers, military and public figures stood at the origins of the faculty. In connection with the events of the 30s and 40s, the leadership of the unit changed frequently, and only by the middle of the century did the two structural units merge. Since 2004, V. V. Kileinikov has been appointed dean of the united division.
Profile of the faculty
At the moment, the Faculty of Humanities of the VSPU trains young specialists in the following educational programs:
- in the direction of "Pedagogical education" (history, social studies, law, Russian language and literature);
- in the direction of "Psychological and pedagogical education" (psychology and social pedagogy);

Natural sciences and geography at VSPU
Dean's office of the Faculty of Natural Geography, bearing the current name since 1951, one of the oldest in the educational institution of Voronezh,ensures the smooth work of teachers and student discipline. Since the formation of the university, this department has been engaged in the professional training of teachers in chemistry, biology, geography, geology, and zoology. Faculty of Foreign Languages at Voronezh Pedagogical University
On a par with the humanitarian faculty of VSPU, which is in demand and popular among the student body, is the Faculty of Foreign Languages. For almost 80 years of its existence, this unit had to go a long and hard way. Initially, the corps was part of the Voronezh Teachers' Institute of Foreign Languages, preparing translators and philologists in English, French and German. In difficult wartime, when the faculty was evacuated outside the Voronezh region, in 1943 the first graduation of English students took place.
The rapid development of the language faculty was facilitated by the increased attention of the administration to the replenishment of technical means. To work with students, tape recorders were purchased, language laboratories and phonetic rooms were equipped. The level of foreign language communication of students has been rapidly increasing due to the competent use of audiovisual means in the educational process. Search for effective education altechnology at the faculty continues to this day. In addition, in the early 2000s, the Voronezh Pedagogical University made a huge step forward and stood out among domestic educational institutions, providing students with the opportunity to study at the Faculty of Foreign Languages in absentia.
Art and art education
The most creative department of the VSPU is the Faculty of Arts and Art Education. Here, musicians, artists, designers and choreographers manage to realize their talents and find a profession to their liking. There are five departments at the faculty:
- theories, history of music and musical instruments;
- choral conducting and vocals;
- fine art;
- design;
- folk art.
At first, this unit, created on the basis of the Music and Pedagogical University, was caused by the need to create in the city the highest level in the multi-stage system of training students of creative profiles and various qualifications. However, the first obstacle at that time was the shortage of teachers with higher musical education. The problem was solved thanks to federal and municipal support.
Psychological and pedagogical education at the university
The Psychological and Pedagogical Faculty of the VSPU trains students in the areas of "Primary Education", "Preschool Education", "Special Education", "Psychology of Education". Popular among applicants are additionalprofessional training programs in the speci alties "teacher-speech therapist", "kindergarten teacher", etc. Students are provided with ample opportunities for mastering the chosen speci alty, implementing research work and practical activities.
