It's almost impossible to have an order named after you. Georgy Zhukov is a marshal who managed to achieve this. During his life, he was able to achieve great success in both military and political activities. He received many Soviet and foreign orders and medals.
And after the death of Zhukov, twenty years later, the President of the Russian Federation approved his order for all outstanding services. The order was a recognition that his role during the Great Patriotic War, as well as during the founding of the armed forces and strengthening the defense was significant. Who won the award?

Appearance of the Order
The Order of Marshal Zhukov was made of silver. It was based on a cross with oval joints. Relief rays also departed in all directions. In the center was a medallion. It is here, on a blue background, that the image of the marshal is placed. Above his head was the inscription "Georgy Zhukov". At the bottom of the medallion were painted laurel and oak branches.
On all four sides of the order there are shields covered with red enamel. The ruby shield with gilding is a symbol of the Holy Mother of God, which plays a rather significant role for Russia. This arrangement of shields is also no coincidence. Their place on the award is a symbol of the fact that our country will be protected from the attacks of enemy peoples from all sides. The branches that are at the bottom of the image of the marshal symbolize the courage and dignity of the one who received the award.
Features of Zhukov's medal
Together with the order, the Zhukov medal was also established. The medal has no specific number. When presenting the award, the recipient will also be given a special certificate. The one who received the medal is not awarded the Order of Zhukov. The medal is very significant, and itmust be worn on the left side of the chest. It should be located under the medal "50 Years of Victory".
Presentation of the first orders
In 1995, the first veteran was awarded the order. Over the course of three years, another 99 veterans also received this award. The first fifteen awards were made on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the Victory. As a result, exactly one hundred people received recognition in three years. All veterans had a rank that was not lower than a colonel. After the presentation of all one hundred awards, this order began to be awarded mainly to military units.
The cavalryman who received the Order
One of the first to receive the Order of Zhukov was G. T. Vasilenko, a cavalryman. Initially, the district in which Vasilenko was located was located on the North-Western Front. This front was opposing, therefore, as a result of hostilities, he was seriously injured as a commander. Six months later, Vasilenko returned to the front again. At this time, their entire brigade was reorganized, so Gavriil Tarasovich ended up in the Caucasus as part of the tenth guards corps. In August 1942, Vasilenko's brigade went on the offensive. During the attack, they managed to get the Terek station, neutralize about ten tanks of the German army, and also take a couple of hundred prisoners of war. Thanks to their offensive, the Naur region was practically liberated from enemies. During this period, Vasilenko was already a lieutenant colonel in the army, but it was then that he received his second serious wound. He manages to return to the front again only a year later.
In 1943 he was appointed commander of one of the guards divisions. His unit did quite well. They made a great contribution to the confrontation in the Kuban. However, his service was not always successful. In 1944, he was removed from his post for an unsuccessful offensive. A year later, he was again able to regain his commanding rank. For all his great military merits, Gavriil Tarasovich received the Order of Georgy Zhukov.
Fighter pilot was honored
At that time, not only commanders-in-chief of the brigade received the award. In 1995, when the president presented the award, among those who received the Order of Zhukov was Major General of Aviation Zakharov Georgy Nefedovich. He was an excellent fighter pilot. Zakharov, even before the start of World War II, had several successful sorties. During the outbreak of the war, he already had a high rank, but he continued to make combat flights. He was also one of the first to engage in combat with German aircraft. For the period of 1945, the fighter pilot had about 150 successful sorties. Zakharov received the order precisely for these services to the Motherland.
