Who doesn't love fairy tales? They teach and give hope. And in fairy tales there are main characters. They, as a rule, own various wisdoms, but not scientific, but magical. They are called sorcerers. This is our object of study. Consider the meaning and synonyms of the word.
Meaning
Are "wizard" and "sorcerer" similar concepts? The question is interesting. According to the dictionary, yes, it is. It says the following: "The same as the wizard." Therefore, in order to understand the meaning of the word "sorcerer", you need to explain the meaning of the noun "wizard":
- Sorcerer, sorcerer.
- A person who captivates others with something.
It must be said that, unlike its synonym, "sorcerer" does not have a second meaning, it is connected by inseparable bonds only with the magical world. By the way, this is also confirmed by language practice, because we will never tell a cook or an actor that he is a magician, people who turn their craft into art are wizards. From the object of study, in general, some kind of dark force emanates, although withFrom a formal point of view, there is no linguistic difference between a wizard and a sorcerer. But the latter is necessarily drawn in the imagination as evil and, of course, crazy.
Clearly, sorcerers are sorcerers. The latter, oddly enough, can be both evil and good. Sorceresses, for example, are found in fairy tales of two types, and if a man takes on a similar role, then he will certainly be evil. Good magicians call themselves wizards, although, probably, after a series of films and books about Harry Potter, everything will be completely messed up.
Synonyms
Like any word, ours needs to be replaced from time to time. The theme is magical and mysterious, and nothing mysterious is observed in the semantic analogues. So the list is:
- sorcerer;
- mage;
- wizard;
- miracle worker;
- sorcerer;
- magician.
Let the reader forgive, but here the repetition of those synonyms for the word "sorcerer" that have already been met in the text above is inevitable. But let's leave it. Let's talk about more interesting things.
Traditionally, thanks to the Brazil national football team, the nickname Magicians of the ball has stuck in our language.
And a sorcerer is a sorcerer. It's actually a very old synonym for wizard. But the most interesting thing is not this, but the fact that the “magician” is a “wonderful”, and therefore “eccentric”. These are all related definitions. But “magician” is a positive characteristic, and “eccentric” has lost its position, and so they began to call those who deviate from social norms. Therefore, we decided at least partiallyrestore historical justice.
Where to see wizards?
It would seem a strange question. After all, there are no such places. No, they are! Another thing is that wizards are found exclusively where the imagination gives itself free rein to roam. We risk, of course, falling into banality, but you can watch the following films:
- Harry Potter film series.
- Tolkien's cult trilogy The Lord of the Rings.
- "Mary Poppins" (1964).
- My Terrible Nanny (2005).
- Wizards (1982).
The list is predictable, but that's not the point. It is not a great merit to see magic where it is revealed. It is much more difficult to see magic where it is completely invisible at first glance.
People do magic every day when they force themselves to do their duty to society again and again, although the work has long been tired, and in general they pay little. When women and men combine several functions and social roles, and cope with them well. One must see the magic behind the mundane, for the latter is also fed up with the fact that they want to leave it and soar along with the sublime. When we learn to see deep meaning in everyday existence, then our life will become a little better. In other words, a sorcerer is an opportunity that is always with us.
