Compare is both simple and difficult at the same time. Just when it comes to the obvious. For example, to compare a black cat and a white one, but it is difficult when events intervene in the task that are connected with each other too many-sidedly. In any case, let's talk about the stated verb.
Meaning
Often in literature lessons we are asked to compare (and this is expected) the heroes of works of art. I remember, of course, the Karamazov brothers from the novel of the same name by F. M. Dostoevsky. Probably because they are specially separated by the writer in different directions, so that the character of each is more obvious. From such an experiment that everyone goes through in their school years, various hypotheses can be born, for example, this: the Russian classic, although he consciously promotes bright ideas, the embodiment of which is Alyosha Karamazov, is himself enchanted by evil and explores with pleasure exactly the dark depths of man. The proof is the simplicity and consistency of Dostoevsky's bright characters and the complexity and versatility of the dark ones. But we are cunning, the schoolboy is unlikely to come tosimilar conclusions. On the other hand, students can also be different.
Okay, it’s enough, perhaps, to torment the reader with a Russian classic, if he (the reader) is still at school, then there will come a time when he will taste all the sweetness of this prose, and if not, then remembering his past nightmare is useless.
Better consider the meaning and synonyms of the word "match". True, everything will not work here at once. Let's start with the meaning: "Comparing, correlate with each other to obtain some conclusion." There is nothing complicated. Replacements of the object of study are already waiting. Well, let's not test their patience.
Synonyms
Of course, we started from school time, but chronologically we did wrong. Because with the operation, where the verb “compare” is involved (and this is not surprising), a person gets acquainted very early. Let's imagine a toy in which it is necessary to add certain geometric shapes into the holes of the corresponding shape reserved for them. When a child plays, he willy-nilly matches.
Let's return to the main characters of this section - synonyms of the object of study:
- compare;
- check;
- match;
- match.
As you can see, we have few analogues, because the concept is complex. We've left a few things off our list because some replacements aren't good enough.
Jack London and his "Martin Eden"
American classic is certainly more attractive toteenagers than Russian, which we talked about a little higher. And if you don’t like Dostoevsky at all, but you still need to read and compare, then you can take an epoch-making work in its time - “Martin Eden” by Jack London. What exactly is there to compare? Basically, anything is possible. But, in our opinion, it is interesting to analyze, for example, the transformation of the main character's ideas about his girlfriend, with whom he was fascinated at first. And what happened next, the reader will know if he reads the immortal text. Another topic for which there may not be enough material in the book itself is Martin Eden's lust for fame and its actual incarnation. In general, if you think about it, you can find a sea of comparisons. A lot of possibilities are hidden in a person, the only trouble is that he does not know about it.
Hopefully, now the verb "match" is not something that will deprive the reader of sleep and come to him in nightmares. It's actually quite simple if you think about it a bit.
