A bit of history
A not very big city in the southern part of Russia called Cherkessk is the capital of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. It is located on the right side of the Kuban River, in the Ciscaucasian zone.
The city appeared relatively recently, at the beginning of 1825, and had a different name. They named him so in honor of Batal Pasha, the head of a military detachment in Turkey. After some time, or rather in 1934city, the city changed its name to Sulimov. However, three years later, things changed again. Their result was a new name - Yezhovo-Cherkessk. But the story doesn't end there. Two years later, People's Commissar Yezhov was arrested, and this, naturally, led to the decision to remove the first part of the city's name. And so the city of Cherkessk turned out. And that is how we know him today.
But the war is still going on over the name of the capital of the Republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, which flares up between the Circassians and Karachays. This is due to the fact that the latter dream that someday the capital city will be called Karachaevsky.
Climate of the city of Cherkessk
The Karachay-Cherkess capital has a fairly warm climate. For example, in summer the air temperature exceeds 38 degrees with a plus sign. And because of the scorching sun, it is simply impossible for residents to stay outside for a long time, otherwise they can get severe burns or sunstroke, so they often “cool off” near city fountains or in parks. Some even prefer to spend the daytime without leaving home. It is because of this that in the summer there are very few inhabitants on the streets of the city.
In the winter season, the air temperature does not fall below 10 degrees Celsius. And then, the capital of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic can boast of such "cold" only in the last winter month - February.
But, despite the high temperature, constant piercing winds blow in the city and heavy continuous rains pour, which can go without stopping for several weeks. And because of the wind in winter, it seems that it is terribly cold outside.
Ecology
There are practically no working factories and industrial factories left in the city, and only car exhaust gases and household garbage thrown out by people pollute it. That is why the air here is clean, which has a positive effect on the life expectancy of citizens.
