Today we'll talk about what attracts many, of course, if people like sweets. Dessert is something that no self-respecting feast can do without. And there must be something at the end of the program. But it was not the recipes that came to our attention, but the meaning of the word.
Origin and Meaning
It's hard to imagine that a person who eats cake with enthusiasm thinks about how sweet is called according to culinary norms of decency. You can't believe this at all. Anyone who consumes sweets cares about absolutely nothing but the treat itself.
But something worries us and how. Moreover, there is no cake nearby, so nothing will distract us from the analysis of the question: “Dessert - what is it?”. Let's look at the dictionary, for there is no reason not to trust it. He states that the answer to the question is: "Fruit or a sweet dish served at the end of the meal is the third."
It is worth saying that dessert is not always present in the daily diet of Russians, but if some kind of holiday is arranged (birthday or Newyear), then, of course, you can’t do without sweets.
And yes, it is necessary to say about the origin. The word came to us from French at the end of the 18th century. In Moliere's language, it is formed from the definition of desservir, that is, "to clear the table." As you can see, in French and Russian the meanings are the same: this is the dish that is served at the end of the dinner, before being cleared from the table.
Synonyms
Since dessert is an unambiguous word, it has few replacement words. But we must still make them public. So the list is:

- sweet;
- third (dish);
- fruits.
If the reader has no problems with synonyms, but is concerned about the lexical meaning of the word "dessert", then let his head not hurt about this: he can safely use the definition given just above. There are plenty of examples of this kind. We use this phrase and do not even notice its culinary origin. For example, almost any fiction book is written in such a way that there is a climax at the end, and at the same time a catharsis for the reader. Rather, this happens only if the work really succeeded, and its ending did not disappoint. To write a voluminous novel and skillfully lead the reader to catharsis and the rapture that follows it, you need great skill of the author. But this is understandable. The important thing is that King or Dostoevsky do not reveal the intrigue of the story until the very end. Surprisingly, few people remember that the Russian classic wrote mostly detective stories. Therefore, the recipes for a good book and a delicious dinner are the same: the most important thing should be left for later.
Waiting for dessert as stimulation as development
I would not want to let the reader go without talking to him about one psychological trick. Our life consists of "first courses", "seconds" and "thirds": there is work, duties, hobbies and an outlet - this is dessert. Sometimes it is difficult for a person to do what he should. Some have to force themselves, and both the business and the person suffer from this. But there is a way out: you need to introduce a system of rewards or "tokens". In this context, the last word means something that a person desires. And skillfully alternating tedious work and hobbies, you can reach unprecedented heights. This not only works with both small and large people, but is also successfully applied consciously or unconsciously.
Let's illustrate the system with a specific example. The student does not want to do homework, let's say mathematics. But parents, instead of threatening, shouting, pushing, say: “Well, don’t do it, but also the Chronicles of Narnia, that means, until you read it. And if you do your homework, you can not only read but also play a video game.”
Of course, this will not add love to mathematics, but the child will at least prepare for the lesson. As you can see, the method is very old, but today it is experiencing a renaissance. “Token” is sweet. The parallel suggests itself, and it is not wrong, but absolutely true.
