The Faculty of Higher School of Translation was created on the basis of Moscow State University in 2005. Today, the faculty of the Higher School of Economics, Moscow State University is a member of the Permanent International Council of Institutes for the Training of Translators.
Training programs
The educational process at the Faculty of the Higher School of Economics of Moscow University is based on the study of the following disciplines:
- theories of international legal, economic and political relations;
- history and culture of the countries of the studied languages, etc.
It is worth noting separately that the main feature of building students' education at the faculty is parallel training in simultaneous translation, translation of film and video materials. MSU GSP prepares translators according to the following combinations:
- Russian-English;
- Russian-German;
- Russian-French;
- Russian-Spanish;
- Russian-Italian;
- Russian-Chinese.
Each student chooses at least 2 of the presented combinations. Upon completion of the training, all specialists have professional skills in interpretation and translation. It is also impossible not to mention that the study of Turkish, Arabic, Korean, as well as Greek is available. It is provided as an additional educational service.
The following areas of training are presented:
- translation and translation studies (6 years);
- linguistics (duration 4 years);
- Linguistics (2 years).
For the preparation of bachelors (1 step of highereducation) are accepted persons who have a document on the presence of secondary (complete) education. Students who can provide a bachelor's or specialist's degree are enrolled in the educational profile of masters.
After successfully passing the qualifying work and exams, graduates of the Faculty of Higher School of Translation are issued a state. Moscow State University diploma in Russian and English.
Also, within the walls of the faculty, it is possible to study at postgraduate and doctoral programs. The program "Comparative-Historical, Typological and Comparative Linguistics" was presented.
It is impossible not to note the presence of the additional qualification program "Translator in the field of professional communication". The duration of this program is 4 academic semesters. Senior students and applicants with higher education are enrolled for training. Education is conducted on the evening form (contractual basis).
Preparation for admission
For students in grades 10-11 of a comprehensive school, training courses are organized for the delivery of a unified state. exam, as well as to the successful passing of an additional entrance test. Secondary school graduates are trained in the following subjects:
- foreign language (English, French, German, Chinese - in-depth study of the language, preparation for the unified exam and internal exam);
- Russian;
- literature, preparation for the final essay;
- history;
- social science.
For schoolchildren in grades 7-9, additional courses for studying foreign languages, as well as preparation courses for the Unified State Examination, are carried out. In addition, students are being trained under the program "General Course of the English Language and the Culture of Russian Speech".
Admission to the GTS
For admission to undergraduate programs, applicants must submit certificates with the results of the unified state. exam, as well as successfully pass an additional entrance test (DWI) conducted directly by the university.
The individual achievements of the applicant are also taken into account. The maximum number of points for each individual exam is 100. Information on the minimum points at which participation in the entrance competition is allowed is published on the official website of the faculty.

The average passing score in 2018 for the direction "Translation and Translation Studies" was more than 30.5. Recruitment was carried out exclusively for paid places. The cost of training was 355 thousand rubles a year. At the same time, 30 places were allocated.
