The VSU Library, as the main information and communication center of Voronezh State Technical University, is working towards modernizing the management structure of the university's library resources and improving library and information services based on the use of innovative technologies.
Directions in the field of work organization
One of the priorities in the organization of work is the improvement of the management system and the implementation of personnel policy, the organization of professional development of library workers. In order to preserve the fund of rare and valuable publications, the composition of the fund is being studied for the selection of publications to be digitized. To effectively preserve the collections, the certification of book depositories has begun.
Library collections
Disclosure of documentary resources occurs by replenishing the electronic catalog. The electronic catalog of the library of the Voronezh State University is also supplemented with bibliographic descriptions of individual articles in periodicals and scientific bulletins. The formation of a fund of electronic documents is constantly being carried out -copies of those publications that are published by the publishing house (scientific collections, bulletins, educational and methodical publications). The fund of scientific literature is replenished with electronic editions on CD. Work is actively carried out with partners from the domestic book exchange, university publications are sent out annually.
Library and bibliographic services
Library and bibliographic service, as one of the leading areas of work, is designed to provide high-quality and complete satisfaction of the scientific and information needs of teachers, researchers and university students. A multifunctional automated system has been introduced. The VSU library is connected by a computer network to the university. Information and bibliographic services for users are carried out in a combination of traditional and new forms, the number of references provided in automatic mode is growing.
To meet strategic service objectives, existing and new opportunities for user access to information sources are being expanded each year. Among the workstations installed are an electronic catalogue; picking; book supply; systematization; cataloger; scientific bibliography; lending; barcoding literature. Automated user service is gradually being introduced.
Electronic Library
The VSU Library provides users with access to information sources in the electronic and hybrid reading rooms. Users with laptops in one of the library buildings are provided with access to the university network and the Internet using Wi-Fi technology.
An information system is being introduced - an electronic archive of scientific publications mainly by university employees.
One of the priority areas of work is the creation of sources of bibliographic information, as well as electronic resources based on them. The electronic scientific archive contains bibliographic indexes of the series “Biobibliography of scientists. Voronezh State Technical University” and printed works of the university.
The institution provides information support for databases. The creation of databases "Problems of higher education" and "Topical issues in socio-economic periodicals" has begun. Work is underway on the electronic version of the Card Index of Library Science Materials.
Library research work
VSU Library considers research and publishing as its priority. Research work is aimed at its improvement. It is carried out by employees of various structural divisions, formally united in a scientific creative group. For the successful fulfillment of the task set, constant cooperation has been established with the departments of the State University. Scientific research is carried out within working hours, and their results are published, as well as used for presentations at conferences.

VSU: Zonal Library
Sociocultural activities are carried out by organizing and holding annual events: the scientific and practical conference "Modern problems of activity in the information society" and interuniversity seminars, information days of the library for university employees.
In the direction of developing cooperation, the VSU library maintains partnerships with leading libraries in Russia. The institution develops the direction of the university's activity on humanitarian education of the educational process by means of cultural and educational work. Considerable attention is paid to the organization, with more than 100 events prepared annually using both traditional and innovative methods.
