The Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology (MIET) has been left with reviews since 1965, immediately after its formation in Zelenograd, because it immediately became clear that this university was the most important link in the creation of the Soviet electronics industry.
Zelenograd
This industry was just beginning its development, and everyone saw the prospects for its use in the fields of space, military, and the national economy, and the country was supposed to be provided with highly qualified specialists by MIET. Reviews were written mainly documentary, after studying the course of affairs by various commissions, including government ones. Domestic microelectronics was extremely needed by the state, and therefore a special resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR was required to create the institute.
Thus, Zelenograd, a satellite city of the capital, became the center of the electronics industry, witha huge number of specialized research institutes, industrial enterprises, and scientific, industrial and educational activities were integrated within the walls of MIET. The feedback from the first graduates vividly tells about the enthusiasm with which they began their student life.
Teaching Methods
From the very first academic semester, progressive educational programs have been used at the institute. Education here was not similar to any of the universities existing in the country. The deepest fundamental training was combined with a huge amount of industrial practice directly at nearby enterprises. Most of the teachers are scientists who are directly involved in the most vital scientific research. Specialists from the Scientific Center were involved in the educational work, therefore, new and unique programs, courses, curricula, manuals and textbooks for MIET students were compiled at an exceptionally high pace. The reviews stored in the museum of the university almost exhaustively tell about this.
Since this industry was just beginning its development, students received knowledge that had just appeared, there was literally a real-time mode. In the seventies, an MIET diploma could make its owner a hero of absolutely any meeting, and the university itself was one of the most prestigious in the country, was classified as a leader and played the role of a base and head in the field of microelectronics. Already in 1984, the institute was awarded an order for great merits in the training of specialists and success in research work. It is now the National ResearchMIET University, and received the status of a technical university in 1992.
Meaning
Over the past half century, the university has trained about thirty thousand highly qualified specialists, including 1,200 doctors of science, which provided the main personnel support for all the country's enterprises involved in electronics. And until now, it is MIET graduates, whose speci alties will always be relevant and in demand, that form the basis of the personnel and scientific potential of the electronics industry. Now the university is the leading higher education institution in Russia, supplying specialists in almost all areas of science-intensive high technologies. There are thirty-five main and twenty basic departments of leading electronics enterprises at thirteen faculties of the university, there are postgraduate studies, doctoral studies, and a regional information technology center.
Academicians and Corresponding Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctors and Candidates of Sciences work with students (their vast majority - out of 650 teachers at the university, 130 professors and 340 candidates of science). It is not so easy to accept students here, as it should be for such a special university, this is MIET, the passing score here is very high, it can only be compared with MEPhI, Moscow State University and two or three other such glorious universities in Russia. A little more than six and a half thousand people study at a time, plus about three hundred doctoral and graduate students, this is not so much for a basic university.
Training
Training is carried out in twenty-five undergraduate and thirtymaster's programs. Few universities keep up with the times as well as MIET does. Its departments work according to constantly updated educational programs. In the last few years, fundamentally new ones have appeared: "Nanotechnology in electronics", "Telecommunications", "Microsystem Technology", "Secure Communication Systems" and some others. Training programs for elite specialists in the fields of high technologies are being implemented, where leading domestic and foreign specialists and firms, such as Motorola, Cadence, Synopsys and many others, are involved in teaching. There is a college at the university where specialists in computer science and electronics are trained, and it is from there that the strongest applicants come to MIET: they are not afraid of a passing score, the environment is familiar, the teachers are the same.
Despite the development of new areas of training (for example, design appeared at the university), MIET holds the status of a technical university high and confident. According to the rating of the Ministry of Education and Science, MIET is always in the top five among technical universities in the country. Zelenograd is proud of the presence of the university in the city, it was here that the center of science and culture was formed. Work with schools is very widely developed. Not only numerous physical and mathematical classes have been created, but also entire schools under the auspices of the MIET. Zelenograd has specialized classes of the famous university in thirteen schools, plus lyceum 1557, from which up to five hundred students graduate annually, who replenish the student body of the country's best universities. Preparatory courses at the university teach moreup to four hundred students each year.
How to act
Everyone knows that every student needs to take care of entering a famous and prestigious university in advance. Firstly, prepare as best as possible for the exam, so that the scores are sufficient for admission to the MIET (budget scores are even higher). Secondly, you need to participate in a variety of annual competitions that universities hold for schoolchildren. Since 1997, Zelenograd has been hosting the regional conference "Creativity of the Young", where students from the ninth to the eleventh grade take part.
And since 2004, MIET has been supervising the district stage of the Olympiad in Physics and Mathematics for eleventh graders, where up to one and a half thousand people participate. Prize-winners and winners of Olympiads for schoolchildren can enter the number of MIET students without entrance examinations (at least in major subjects). Documents for admission are supplemented with information about individual achievements, which will be taken into account, that is, the winners and prize-winners will either be awarded additional points, or achievements will be an advantage with equal amounts of points in the competition.
Documents
It is necessary to submit all supporting documents to the selection committee. These can be personal achievements of various kinds, including sports ones, it will be very helpful to have a certificate for awarding a gold or silver medal after graduating from high school or a diploma confirming secondaryvocational education with honors. Volunteer activities are also taken into account. All personal qualities of an applicant that can influence the decision of the MIET examination committee, the selection committee must document.
Applicants to undergraduate programs can thus increase their score by ten points, which will help make it a passing MIET. University address: Zelenograd, Shokin Square, building 1. The university website for non-resident applicants has all the information regarding documents and the procedure for their submission. Muscovites and residents of the Moscow region prefer to personally visit MIET. The admission committee is open on weekdays from 10.00 to 17.00, on Saturday - until 16.00.
Innovation
Active innovation activities have brought the National Research University MIET to a leading position in the Russian Federation. This movement began in 1991, when a scientific and technological park was created in Zelenograd under the foundation of the university. Then the Innovation Technology Center was opened at MIET. One of the buildings of this university innovation complex was opened by the President of Russia. In 2001, the implementation of the "Technological Village" project with an area of eighteen thousand square meters began, this is a new modern scientific and industrial structure, which serves as a base for participants in innovative activities, there is a full range of all necessary services for the production of competitive products.
By 2010 innovative technologies at the universityAs many as three research institutes, five research centers, twenty scientific and educational centers, seven for the formation of competencies, Proton-MIET (a manufacturing diversified enterprise), a Technology Center and two innovation centers, a center for technology transfer and commercialization, a business incubator and scientific technology park. The innovative structure developed very quickly and widely, its level, scope and content (complex innovative projects) determined the compliance of this university with all the criteria that a national research university should have. In 2010, MIET won the competition for university development programs, and therefore received a new status.
IPTC
The largest faculty of the university with 1200 students (only full-time students) is the faculty of microdevices and technical cybernetics. Among the ten thousand graduates trained over the years of its existence, more than two hundred and fifty became doctors of science. Engineering, technical and scientific personnel are trained here, who will be engaged in the development, design and operation of software and electronic systems. Education, production and science are integrated in the learning process, and therefore graduates with an MIET diploma get the opportunity to work successfully in science, in industry, and in public and government positions.
Experts are diversified, capable of developing application and system software for equipping computing systems. These are real-time operating systems, programsobject recognition, signal and image processing, artificial intelligence and information protection, design of specialized computing devices and equipment for communication and radar. Graduates are in high demand both as developers of devices and products in commercial enterprises and for work in the country's defense industry.
IVP
In 1967, a military department was opened at MIET, and in 2008 it was supplemented by a military training center. In order to coordinate educational, educational and methodological work and ensure the effective management of military training, in 2009 the Faculty of Military Training was established at MIET. And, finally, in March 2017, the FVP was reorganized into the IVP - the institute of military training, where students are trained in the speci alties necessary for the ground forces. The IVP has specially equipped classrooms for various subjects of study, as well as a parade ground and a park with equipment.
Applicants entering the NRU MIET are given the opportunity, in addition to the main program, to undergo military training programs. To get into the number of listeners, you need to submit an appropriate application to the military commissariat at the place of residence, to which attach a copy of the birth certificate, a copy of the passport, a copy of the document on education and three photographs. After that, it is necessary to go through a preliminary selection at the military commissariat and receive a personal file of the candidate for the target recruitment, which is submitted to the MIET selection committee along with the rest of the required documents.
