Green spider: photo, varieties
Contrary to popular belief, "eight-legged" are not insects. They are considered distant relatives of crabs and are combined into a separate class of arachnids. They are ubiquitous, even in water. Spiders do not live only in areas that are covered with ice year-round.
They have very different colors depending on the environment. This helps to camouflage when hunting. In their arsenal there are yellow, white, brown, black and other colors. The green spider is a typical inhabitant of grass and thickets. It blends in perfectly with the background and becomes invisible to prey and enemies.
Green has the largest subspecies of jumping spiders. They hunt during the day and move by jumping. You can meet horses in the tropics of New Guinea and in Western Australia. One of the species of wolf spiders has a similar color, the Australian garden orb weaver, as well as some crab spiders. The latter move sideways, which is why they are called "sidewalkers".
Micromate greenish
This green spider is common in Russia, especially in Siberia and the Far East. Its range covers the entire Palearctic (a biogeographic region that includes Europe, Asia, North Africa). Their venom is too weak, so they pose no danger to humans.
Mikromata is similar to wolf spiders. She does not build trapping nets from cobwebs, but prefers live hunting. She is waiting for future food, hiding behind a blade of grass or a branch. Then it overtakes with a sharp jump. The green spider behaves in much the same way when mating, jumping on the female and immobilizing her with a jaw grab.
From above, their color is bright green, and the belly is light green. Females have a small dark spot in the form of a rhombus. Males are notable for their red and yellow body stripes. The size of spiders is from 1 to 1.5 centimeters. The eyes are lined with white hairs. Adult micromats are found in summer and early autumn.
Lynx spider
Another green spider is a lynx. Most representatives of this family have a less defiant color, painted in gray or brown. They prefer tropical areas, although they live almost everywhere.
Green members of the family have a bright color. Their paws are covered with many small bristles and end with three claws. The body is slightly tapering in the back, covered with red stripes intwo rows. There may be black dots on the paws.
Spiders do not build webs, they hunt down the victim, hiding on melliferous flowers or in the grass. They move quickly and deftly with the help of long jumps, for which they got their name. Their speci alty is the shooting of poison, which they squirt out in times of danger.
Representatives of this species live no more than a year. They feed on insects but may prey on birds. For a person, the bite of a lynx spider is not fatal; in terms of strength, it is equivalent to a bee.
