One of the features of the English language, as well as many others, is the change in the form of verbs to indicate the time of action. The most common way to form the past tense of an English verb is to add the ending -ed, but there are many verbs that do not lend themselves to this rule.

For them:

  • when forming the Past Simple, the second form of the irregular verb is used;
  • to form one of the perfect tenses (Past Perfect, Present Perfect, or Future Perfect), the modal verb have is used in one of the forms (had - for the past tense, have / has - for the present, will have / shall have - for the future) and an irregular verb in the third form.

A separate difficulty is the understanding of the tenses of the English language, however, specifically in this article, attention is paid to English irregular verbs with transcription and translation. Read and memorize!

In this case, most English learners resort to simple rote learning, but in this case, rote learning is the worst enemy. In fact, you can trace the patterns and similarities in the formation of forms of irregular verbs (with transcription and translation it is easier to learn) for almost all of their types.
