Dimensions and scales

One has only to imagine - Western Siberia occupies about 2.6 million square kilometers! It's just incredible scale. It stretches for 2500 kilometers from the Kara Sea to the semi-deserts of Kazakhstan (from north to south) and from the Yenisei to the Urals (from east to west) for 1900 km. The vast expanses of Siberia are simply mesmerizing.

It is interesting that the surface of the lowland is mostly flat, and if there are drops, they are insignificant. Elevations are a characteristic feature of all outskirts, except for the northern one. In the southern, western and eastern, they are quite common. But they are low - a maximum of 300 meters. In the central regions, the height of the lowlands is a maximum of 150 meters above sea level. In general, it should be noted that the nature here is amazing, and this is one of the features thatWestern Siberia is different.

Resources and natural conditions

The territory of the lowland is represented by the whole range of soils - here you can meet both black soil and tundra rocks. Special attention should be paid to the climate of Western Siberia. It is sharply continental.

During the winter season, these places are very cold, besides, the pressure drops here - slowly but surely, and it keeps at a low level for quite a long time. There are also southerly winds here. Far from every person is able to endure the climate of Siberia - there is no place for the unhardened here, since the absolute temperature minimum only in the south is -50 degrees. In the center and in the northern part, this figure is -55`C. The "warmest" (if you can call it that) region is the southwestern one. The temperature there in winter is relatively low - up to a maximum of minus 28. Indeed, for Siberians this is an absolutely normal indicator, but the southerners instantly shudder when they hear a figure of -10. Needless to say about such temperatures as, for example, -60, and this is not uncommon here.

No wonder snow is common here. Western Siberia is covered with a white fluffy cover for about 270 days a year. But this is in the north, in the southern part, this figure is 160 days. The thickness of the snow cover is rather big - more than half a meter. Really impressive.

"Warm" Siberia

Summer in Siberia, as you can already understand, no. However, warming is observed. Closer to the summerpressure begins to normalize, and the temperature rises. The air, by the way, warms up pretty quickly. The "hottest" weather in these places is different - it depends on the area. In the north, near the coast of Yamal, the average summer temperature is four degrees Celsius. If we take into account the Arctic Circle, then the figure is higher there - as much as 14 `C. In the extreme south, July is already more like summer - it is warm enough there, thermometers show +22. In the north, too, a pleasant climate, and the temperature in July is 28 degrees. And finally, the south - it's even too hot there, since thermometers often show +45 `C.

It rains quite often in Siberia. From April to October there is a "rainy" season. About 80% of precipitation falls on this period. This happens in all places except the southern regions - there sometimes it does not rain at all.
