This will inevitably have a detrimental effect on the life of any planets that happen to be nearby, even if they have liquid water. The magnetic fields of such "raging suns" are so powerful that they can crush all the "neighbors". But after a few hundred million years of high activity, red dwarfs settle down and further stretch their hydrogen fuel reserves to about trillions of years.
