This university has an interesting location. It is located in the depths of the Goloseevsky forest area, on the southern outskirts of Kyiv. The buildings of the educational institution were built in the 30s, in the same architectural style of the Ukrainian neo-baroque. The architect Dmitry Dyachenko became the author of the complex.

Mikhail Drahomanov University was established in Kyiv in 1920. From the very beginning, it had only three faculties: preschool, school and medical and pedagogical. Later, already in the 30s, their number was significantly expanded. At the same time, an evening department was launched on the basis of the university.

With the advent of Soviet power, the university was named after the writer Maxim Gorky. Only in 1993 did the school return to its original name.
