Sometimes they say this at school: "And this example is solved similarly to the previous one." And every student knows what is meant by the adverb. There are a lot of similar things in the world. Moreover, a person often thinks in stereotypes. To prove this, we need to parse the adjective "similar", this is our today's object of study.
Meaning
Remember how it was in math class. The teacher analyzed one terribly complex example with the students, and then gave similar ones to take home. What were they? That's right, similar. This approach is needed in order for boys and girls to fill their hands, master knowledge, skills and abilities. It is not that we have digressed, but it is time to move on to the essence of the matter - the meaning of the object of study. The explanatory dictionary, as always, is short - it is "similar, similar".
There are words that people use, for example, for twenty years, and then clarify their meaning by referring to books, but the meaning is completely different, this is akin to N. Copernicus' coup. With our research objectthere is no need to be afraid of this. The explanatory dictionary is consonant with the feeling of the word left by the school.
Synonyms
One shouldn't expect miracles from the synonyms of the word "similar". Similarity cannot be something original, it is not his rank. However, duty and conscience command to provide the reader with what he needs. The list is as follows:
- similar;
- similar;
- similar.
When you need to compare something with something specific, then it is not difficult. For example: "Marin, your young man is the same as the previous one." That is, young people are similar to each other.
There are also whole phrases:
- Like this.
- Same kind of thing.
- Same system.
- In the same way.
Surely the reader understands the principle and can easily continue this list almost indefinitely.
How useful is the analogy?
It saves a person time, effort, and sometimes money. If, for example, you understand that there are cheap counterparts to expensive technical innovations, then you can save your budget for more important things. But money is not the main thing. The main resource in life is time. The ability to use analogies saves a person countless minutes, hours, and possibly years. Let's imagine a textbook case. Suppose a person had a friend who often borrowed and did not repay. Then it turned out that he had a gambling addiction, and he owed half of the city, and, as it is easy to understand, hopelessly.
In the futurea person who has gone through such an experience is reluctant to lend, and if he does, he mentally says goodbye to money. And of course, he will never have a gamer friend again. There is an old Russian proverb: “When you burn yourself with milk, you blow on the water.” It also contains the ubiquitous principle of analogy. True, in this case it is erroneous, because water and milk are not equal to each other. They have only one similarity - they are liquids, in everything else they are different.
Good and evil stereotype
In modern society, it is customary to be different from everyone else. There is an old psychological adage, “he who tries to stand out from the crowd falls into the group of those who try to stand out from the crowd.” That is, our otherness, which we want to reveal to the world with terrible force, will still not surprise anyone. Efforts are futile. Analogy and stereotype are connected by family ties. If similar is similar, then a stereotype is similarity raised to the power of a stamp.
Some say stereotypes are bad. But this is only half the truth. In fact, it is not good when a particular person becomes a victim of a stamp, and he, perhaps, does not correspond to him at all. There is a well-known belief that any girl should be able to cook. Now let's imagine that a young man rejects a girl just because she doesn't fit the stove. But he probably rejected the woman of his life. Such a representative of the fair sex should not despair, she just needs a cook who will consider it an honor to cook something for her.
But this similar typethinking is useful when it comes to abstract knowledge, for example, the same mathematical examples or the wisdom of Russian punctuation. And to be honest, sometimes reducing people to a common set of characteristics of the class or group to which they belong is also a good thing. Imagine that we would comprehend each concretely without blinders of prejudices and personal attitudes? Our psyche would not last long. But there is an adverb “similarly”, the meaning of the word, we hope the reader understands, it is this that saves our mind from overwork and overheating. Of course, it must be consumed at the right time and place, so as not to get into a stupid position.
