Randomness is what surrounds us. But here it all depends on what beliefs a person holds. Some people believe in God, some don't. If the hypothesis is the first, then the world is moving in accordance with the divine plan, if the hypothesis number two is held in high esteem, then the world is filled with accidents and absurdity. Whatever you believe, you should know the meaning of the word "accident" so that you can use it correctly.
Meaning
Relatively absurd. In Umberto Eco's recently published book How to Travel with Salmon, there is a wonderful metaphor for life - this is a performance that we get to 10-15 minutes after the start and leave without waiting for the end. The accuracy of the image is amazing. And even if we believe in a special mission entrusted to us by the Lord, we can still appreciate how strange it is that we are right here and right now. But our existence depends on chance (this is pure truth). Imagine if our parents didn't meet and someone else did everything we do. Isn't it mesmerizing?
In general, the reader has realized what a chaotic world we live in, even if we are supported by faith in God. But you can find relative ground under your feet and discover the meaning of the object of study:
- Same as random.
- A random circumstance.
Let's also discover the meaning of the adjective:
- Arising, appearing unexpectedly.
- Only occasionally, occasionally.
- Accidentally (introductory) expression guess is often disapproving (colloquial).
Offers
Remember Martin Eden had a laundry boss who inevitably rushed the bar on Fridays? Do you know why? Because Friday in the English-speaking world is the day of the salary, in the same place it is issued weekly. By the way, in this sense, we perceive Friday as a holiday in vain, because no one gives us money. However, we digress. But they wanted to say only one thing: visiting a bar is not an accident, but a pattern. Let's look at the offers:
- I think the author can forgive this mistake, it's random. He works too hard. We're still lucky. Here Isaac Asimov did not spare his editors and did not proofread his texts, he gave them as they are.
- Yes, the boy has no job. I can only give him occasional and occasional errands for now.
- Do you happen to have a watch? Time to wantfind out.
- If I tell you that I entered the theater by chance, would you believe me? Right, because it's a stamp.
Synonyms
Substitutions are difficult, because "case" usually means something specific. However, we will get out of the situation. List first, then comments:
- incident;
- event;
- episode;
- casus;
- opportunity.
- opportunity.
- fact.
No, our fears were not confirmed. Synonyms for "accident" (and this is surprising) are no less than usual. Another thing is that substitutions highlight only one facet of the definition, while "accident" includes them all. But sometimes you need options. Versatility is not always an advantage.
Accident or pattern?
Back to where we started. The value of chance can only be appreciated if we think about difficult and insoluble issues - meeting our parents, our own fateful intersections with other people. Note that those who believe in fate believe, for example, that the Lord has prepared a good and kind scenario for them. That's right, who wants to think about bad rock? Although, we believe, there are those who are sure of the crown of celibacy or that their disasters are karma. But such a minority, and masochism is not alien to them. Usually, however, a person believes in good things. True, one cannot deny the presence of a tragic accident in the world, it would probably even be dishonest.
If we take an accident, then the world is absurd, but a person is freefrom the metaphysical scenario. That is, of course, there is a dictate of social conditions and the physical body, but a man or a woman, at least, is free to choose the life they live.
Both points of view - both fatalism and voluntarism (from the word "will") - have their advantages and disadvantages as worldview systems. But one thing is clear: if a person does not believe that this is rock, he continues to fight and in the end, perhaps, he succeeds. He may lose, of course, but at least he tried.
