Date of establishment of the educational institution

The official date of birth of the Samara Law Institute is June 1, 1994. On this day, an order was issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, which announced the opening of a branch of the Yelabuga Police School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The school arose as an institution that trains policemen and detectives of the criminal investigation department. Later it turned into the Samara Law Institute of the Federal Penitentiary Service and became a real source of personnel forspecialists of the penitentiary system.

Precursors in Samara

The Samara Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which became the successor of the police school, was not the first educational institution to train specialists in this field. Back in 1943, by order of the NKVD of the USSR, a special school was opened in Kuibyshev to train the authorities for the protection of prisons and correctional institutions. At that time, such schools were created in many cities, and training in them was as full and fast as possible - it took only six months. At the same time, the Central School of the NKVD was opened in Krasnaya Glinka, which trained future employees of the people's commissariat. After the war, schools were closed, and for more than ten years in the Samara region there were no institutions that trained specialists for various services of the NKVD.

Only in 1963, a branch of the police school was reopened in Kuibyshev, which lasted until 1989. He has produced many specialists in various fields.
