Russia's participation in the First World War is a significant event in the history of our country. It was this fatal general war that became a significant, turning point in world development and redistribution.
Russia in the First World War (the reasons will be given below), its role in this event is not recognized by many countries due to the fact that a shameful for our country separate peace was signed with Germany without the consent of the rest of the allies of our state.
Reasons for the country's participation in the first world bloody event:

- economic tensions between major great powers;
- politics of militarism;
- imperial thinking of a number of countries and national ambitions.
Russia's participation in the First World War in alliance with the Entente began in the summer of 1914. That's when Germany declares its war on Russia. It is worth noting that the confrontation itself began in July 1914. The reason was the murder of the heir of Austria. SoSerbia was declared war. The participation of the United States in the First World War was determined by the same goals as the participation of a number of other countries: the seizure of new territories and the expansion of their borders.
Germany planned to implement its plan for a quick and instant war, but it was thwarted and protracted hostilities began. In August, the Eastern (Prussian) operation begins, which ends with the defeat of the Russian troops, since the main forces - the troops of General Samsonov - were not supported by other armies, as a result of which they were surrounded.
By autumn, Germany managed to oust the troops and the 1st Army of General Rennekampf from Prussia. By the end of the year, a heavy positional war is established. 1915 is called the year of the Great Retreat. All the problems of Russia are clearly expressed precisely at this time: technical backwardness, lack of support from the population and high social tension in society. At this time, the creation of Zemgorov and Military Industrial Committees, a progressive bloc is being created in the 4th State Duma.
1916 is characterized by active and great military operations of the Russian armies. During this period, the offensive of Germany and Hungary begins on the western front, which makes it possible to carry out the legendary Brusilov breakthrough in May 1916.
There is also a battle on the Somme in the summer of the same year, where new weapons were first used - tanks. Russia's participation in the First World War led to the destructioneconomy in the rear of Russia, as well as to the establishment of dual power in the country.
In the rear, disputes begin about the end or continuation of hostilities. The Bolsheviks, who have seized power, come to the decision to stop the fighting. Russia's participation in the First World War ends with the signing of a separate peace with Germany in March 1918. Thus, the country was deprived of vast territories and paid indemnities. In addition, there were two revolutions that brought new people to power. Thus, Russia has not solved its main tasks.
