Practice is a mandatory and integral process in any educational institution. In the junior years, a stay in the organization is provided for the purpose of educational and familiarization practice, during which the student only delves into the essence of the profession, observes the process, records everything that happens every day. He gains invaluable experience, looking at the professionalism of colleagues. The senior courses provide for industrial practice, when the student is sent to an institution not only for observations, but also for the implementation of the acquired knowledge in order to apply them in their profession. In both cases, filling out a practice diary crowns the case. In addition, the student prepares a report, provides feedback from managers from the enterprise and from the university.
What is a practice diary?
There is an opinion among students that filling out a work practice diary is a difficult and boring process. It is not always clear what should be included in the descriptions, in what form to express your thoughts, what to focus on. Usually active trainees who managed to do a lot forperiod of work, they want to describe all the events, based on the emotions and new knowledge they have received. From this, the scientific and business style of presentation is lost, and filling out a diary on industrial practice turns into a personal diary.
Tip
It is a huge plus if you managed to establish contact with the team. You quickly joined the work, learned a lot of new things, communicating with various interesting people. However, you should not emotionally describe your impressions or relationships with colleagues in the diary.
What must be on the pages of the diary
A brief report on the practice of a manager, economist, journalist, teacher, lawyer, provided in the diary, should contain only professional achievements in the learning process. In other words, it should display: the compliance of the actions with the practice program from the university, the progress of the main work on the task, the result obtained, what was done without effort, and what caused difficulties. Thus, it is better to start filling out a diary on industrial practice from the first days of your stay. Then there will be no problems with the long execution of all necessary documents and forms. If you record everything that happens at the place of work every day, then at the end it will only be necessary to transfer your entries to the diary form, as well as draw up a detailed report.
Tip
To make it easier to fill out the field practice diary and report, make it a rule to write down immediately induring or at the end of the day their actions. For example: working with clients, making phone calls, working with archives, visiting a factory (enterprise) and conducting business negotiations, drafting commercial offers, etc. Specify these common phrases with your own names and titles. This will give specificity and credibility to your notes and will be evidence that this is your personal practice, and not the skills acquired in general, as a group together.
Important to remember
When making a diary, do not forget to indicate the full name (your own and the leaders), the place of practice (the official name of the organization) and its terms, as well as collect all signatures and seals certifying the internship.
