The fashion for various spiritual practices gave contemporaries a lot of ways to achieve peace of mind, when no failure can shake confidence in the future. Unfortunately, not everyone succeeds in achieving absolute harmony, and then complete discord sets in. This is a special state in which it is impossible to think coherently and plan for the future. Usually it is accompanied by negative emotions and empty experiences. Where did the term come from, in what cases is it considered appropriate? Philologists will help with the search for answers.
Spiritual troubles
The word comes from a Proto-Slavic source. Two verbs are called closest in meaning and original in relation to the concept under study:
- tear;
- fight.
What does the speaker mean? When discord is mentioned, it means that the whole picture of the world is torn to shreds. We can talk about both abstract, philosophical constructions, and quite real interpersonal relationships. Relevant when a conflict arises at work, or spouses begin to quarrel.
Common interpretation
In the 21st centurythe colloquial definition is considered more famous. After all, everyone can have a mental breakdown in the period of growing up due to problems with school or because of the banal flu with poor he alth. The first interpretation is divided into the following meanings:
- discord;
- disagreement;
- feud;
- quarrel.
They don't talk about the physical interaction of two people, only about the emotional. Or about the prevailing atmosphere of conflict, when there is constant noise, and you subconsciously want to hide somewhere. The second option is deciphered differently:
- as lack of order and coordination of actions;
- like confusion or confusion.
The presence of aggressive thoughts and actions is optional. For example, if several parties with unique political programs are elected with an equal number of votes, this is discord in the legislature. Some want to urgently build nuclear power plants, others have started the reform of banks, and still others stand up for the rights of young families. There are no contradictions, but real chaos reigns under the wave of initiatives and projects in the Parliament.

Always use context. At the everyday level, the interlocutor probably talks about heart anguish or conflict in the family. The word is not suitable for business negotiations, because it reduces the level of discussion to a personal one.
