The profession of an actor is complex, interesting and unpredictable: today you embody the image of a king, and tomorrow you become a homeless beggar. They say that artists are not made, they are born. After all, talent is given by God, and already the corresponding universities only develop it and help to fully reveal it. One of the leading educational enterprises of the Russian Federation, preparing unsurpassed actors, is the Boris Shchukin Theater Institute. Not so long ago, this institution turned one hundred years old. During this time, many famous personalities have released its walls. The institution has experienced many different events, both happy and sad. It witnessed the rise and fall of more than one star.

The Boris Shchukin Theater Institute began its activity in 1913, when it was called the Vakhtangov School. In that distant past, a group of student activists decided to establish a personal theater school. It was a creative, spontaneous and young association, headed by Evgeny Vakhtangov. Under his strict guidance, the first performance was played on the new stage. After the premiere, it was decided to organize the beginning of the learning process.
On the stage they played "The Lanin Manor" based on the play by Boris Zaitsev. The premiere of the production took place in the spring of 1914. The staging was expected to fail, after which Vakhtangov offered the students to start seriously studying theater skills.
Throughout its functioning, the Boris Schukin Theater Institute has changed its name more than once. The name of B. Shchukin, in honor of the best student Vakhtangov, was given to him in 1939.
