Education has always been not indifferent to our compatriots, certificates of literacy of ordinary people (birch bark letters in Novgorod the Great) date back to such antiquity, when in Europe even kings signed with a cross.

But the education system in Russia was complicated.

The school, which we now call secondary, was classy. Education was classical and had as its ultimate goal admission to the university. Secondary education in Russia has become more accessible since the beginning of the 19th century, when gymnasiums and parish schools began to be actively created.

For a long time after that, the education system was quite confusing. Primary education was represented by various schools and parochial schools. There were also schools, as we would now say, of an in-depth type.

Secondary education in Russia was represented by male and female gymnasiums, real and commercial schools, institutes of noble maidens and cadet corps. This is not a complete list of institutions where children could receivesecondary education. In Russia, many aspired to this, there were many talented people from the people.

After the revolution, secondary education in Russia, that is, then already in the RSFSR, became free by law. The constitution secured the right to education for people, and since the rights were then somewhat imposed, this right became at the same time an obligation. In twenty years, all children growing up in our country are getting an education. Moreover, they receive according to a single program, which is taught both in the countryside and in Moscow.

School in Russia acquires a special status and importance. It is the school that now is not only a place where they teach to write and count, but also ideologically indoctrinate children. The Pioneer organization, where all children are admitted on a mandatory basis, is the first step on the way to the party. Children are not only socialized in the Soviet school, but "polished", adjusted to the general standard of Soviet society.

Parents often tried to find the best among exactly the same. Often these were language schools or schools with in-depth study of mathematics.

After all, then a good secondary education is then not only an opportunity to enter a university without cronyism and tutors (which most families could not afford), but also a breadth of views, additional opportunities.

The school was one of the first to change after perestroika. As soon as the restrictions were lifted, author programs and in-depth courses poured into the children.

Now the situation has changed unprincipled. Against the general background, they turn toattention to only two topics: paid secondary education in Russia and the restriction on admission to the first class without registration, introduced this year.

Unrest about paid education did not subside for several years. They promised that from September 2012 only three items would remain free. But so far no such law has been introduced. Perhaps a public opinion study was conducted and it became clear that he would cause too many protests.

But on the other hand, new rules for admission to school, which affected only first-graders, were introduced. Now you can only get to a school in your neighborhood.

Secondary education is changing again, and so is society.
