A person's craving for the inexplicable manifests itself from a young age. But if the secrets of the Universe are unraveled by scientists so that teachers can give general knowledge within the framework of the school curriculum, then superstition is a phenomenon of a completely different level. So, on the eve of exams, many schoolchildren or students begin to tell fortunes. This is a natural attempt to arrange fate for yourself, to predict a bad outcome and try to avoid it by any means. But what is the essence of the phenomenon?
Historical Background
In the modern world, magic is not prohibited by law, if it is not about states with a rigid theocratic system. However, scientific methods are not confirmed, and therefore ridiculed. But just a couple of hundred years ago was the heyday of the occult. Noble gentlemen and commoners sincerely believed in the power of slander, in the power of a fortuneteller over the fate of a person. When a village witch or an influential owner of a spiritualist salon sits down to tell fortunes, this means that two possible actions will now occur:
- the secret of the future will be revealed to customers;
- the fate of the customers of the ritual will change.
The term implies absolutely any magical action. You lay out your cards or peer into the coffee grounds to find out the outcome of the upcoming audit. In the morning you drip into tea from a bottle bought from a gypsy near the metro. Any divination or occult ritual is divination.
Origin of the word
The term is obsolete, today it is used solely to create an atmosphere of mystery. After all, the concepts of "magician", "sorcerer" and similar ones have been used too often in recent decades in the post-Soviet space. There are two versions of occurrence:
- from "enemy" - a participant in the ritual is trying to cast an insidious spell;
- from "lots" - the fortuneteller is trying to draw a good ticket.
Given the realities of the 21st century and thousands of years of previous practice, the second interpretation seems more reliable. And how accessible is such mysticism to contemporaries?
Relevance of rituals
Given the impossibility of verifying the relationship between witchcraft and real-life incidents, it is impossible to accurately indicate the effectiveness of magic. However, at the everyday level, everyone will be able to realize their dreams of otherworldly power.
Put a coin in your shoes to get an A? Are you luring the "test" with shouts and waving a book, leaning out the window? Guessing the correct answer in the test with a pencil? To do all this is to tell fortunes. There is nothing wrong in trying to improve your position,increase your chances of winning. But in parallel, it is also worth studying with textbooks, working on your physical and psychological development. And this applies, of course, not only to education. Then fate will be as favorable as possible!
