E. M. Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences was opened in 1956. The Institute determines research programs independently on the basis of the Charter. IMEMO RAS research is independent. Now IMEMO is located at Profsoyuznaya street, 23.
Main activities of the Institute
The activity of the institute is mainly aimed at researching the main directions of development of the current politics and economics in the world, at developing an analytical basis in order to make appropriate political decisions. The Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences closely cooperates with the federal and regional bodies of the Russian Federation, the media, large private and state organizations, as well as other research centers in Russia and abroad.
History
The Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences is considered the next after the Institute of World Economy and World Politics, which existed in1925-1948. After his appearance, he acquires a reputation for authority and has no analogues in the USSR. It conducts comprehensive fundamental and applied social, economic, political and strategic research, which focuses on analyzing the main directions of development in the world. Later, some problem-regional institutions were separated from its composition. But IMEMO still remains unique in terms of the scope of research problems and a complex of scientific problems by the center of analytics.
IMEMO is very active in:
- execution of federal, regional, branch, corporate scientific software and project, preparation of forecasts in science, showdowns in the field of analytics, scientific and technical expertise in the profile of the Institute;
- conducting research in the field of science under a project that receives financial support from the State Science Foundation of Russia and other state and non-state funds;
- publishing;

Mission
The IMEMO researchers see their main mission in studying possible processes in the international plan from different angles, as well as the mechanisms of functioning of the economy and the peculiarities of policy systems in countries abroad. The institute accumulates extensive experience in analyzing the world economy and international relations, and creates a significant backlog in various studies on a global scale. The Institute also develops Russian science in politics and economic theory, develops forecasts and analyzes in order to make decisions in the field of politics. In the attention of economic and political scientists within the walls of the institute, there are still unresolved issues that are associated with constant scientific and technological development, the direction of globalization, the latest challenge to international security, and qualitative changes in the economy and politics of society.

Postgraduate studies
The IMEMO Postgraduate School has been functioning since 1956. The Department of Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies of the Institute organizes and coordinates the training of scientific personnel in graduate school and highly qualified specialists.
List of areas in which the IMEMO RAS conducts its postgraduate training, in accordance with the licensing for activities in the field of education:
- "Economy";
- "Political Science and Regional Studies".
The orientation of the training of scientific personnel and teachers in the graduate school of the IMEMO RAS corresponds to some speci alties of the dissertation council.
Information base and staff
The Institute employs about 400 researchers, which include 3 academicians and 8 members-RAS correspondents. The quality of education can be assessed by the degree of teachers, whose staff includes a large number of doctors, candidates of economic, historical, political sciences.
The Institute also has a scientific library, a huge fund of books (more than 400,000 books) and a printing base. Now the Institute is located at Profsoyuznaya street, 23, where you can quickly get there.
Directors of IMEMO
In different periods of time, the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences Moscow was headed by high-ranking scientists and politicians. IMEMO directors had an honorary degree, namely people like:

- Inozemtsev N. N. - from 1966 to 1982;
- Yakovlev A. N. - from 1983 to 1985;
- Primakov E. M. - from 1985 to 1989;

IMEMO anniversary
On October 3, 2016, a meeting of the Academic Council was held in the large hall of the Institute, which was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Institute. Acting director A. A. Dynkin addressed the board with congratulations. Anniversary of IMEMO RAS was held in Congress-Hall of the World Trade Center in Moscow.
The 60th anniversary was great. Many scientists and former members of the Institute spoke with congratulations.
Institute Publications
The results of research in the field of science are published in individual and collective monographs and articles, and are also used to prepare teaching aids. Each employee constantly tries to involve governmental bodies for consultation in the preparation of specific issues and draft laws, as well as non-governmental bodies.
