Polzunov Ural State College in Yekaterinburg (UGK) is an educational institution with vast experience in training personnel. It began to accumulate in 1724 - from the moment the Yekaterinburg mining school was opened. Now it's 2018 outside the window. The Ural State College, which grew out of a school, has come a long way from a small educational institution to a large multidisciplinary secondary specialized educational institution.

Educational programs are implemented in the secondary school by 5 departments - mining, technical, information technology, economic, service and law. In the mining and technical divisions there are such speci alties as "Mine Surveying", "Underground mining of mineral deposits", "Tech. maintenance and repair of motor vehicles”, etc. In 2017, applicants showed the greatest interest in:
- "Construction and operation of buildings and structures";
- "Land and property relations";
- “Tech. operation and maintenance of electromechanical and electrical equipment.”
Only 5 programs are associated with the Department of Information Technology. These are "Computer networks", "Automation of technological processes and production", "Information security of automated systems", "Programming in computer systems", "Ensuring information security of automated systems".
The economic department and the department of service and law at Polzunov College offer well-known speci alties - Advertising, Economics and Accounting, Banking, Tourism, Law and Social Security Organization, etc. These structural divisions attract applicants, butsome are disappointed. The fact is that in almost all speci alties educational services are provided for a fee. Only "Reklama" and "Household and Communal Services" have budget places.
The work of the selection committee
Polzunov College annually opens its doors to applicants around June 15th. Acceptance of documents in the secondary school starts from the specified date, and it ends, as a rule, on August 15 (it is recommended to find out the exact date of completion of the admission campaign at the college). During this period, applicants wishing to enroll in an educational institution are required to appear at the selection committee, write an application according to the model and present a package of documents:
- original or copy of passport;
- original or copy of the certificate (diploma);
- 4 photo cards;
- original or copy of medical certificate (not required for all speci alties).
For people living in other cities, the college provides the opportunity to send documents by mail (copies). But it is impossible to submit all the necessary papers in electronic form. This method is not provided in the educational institution. Non-resident applicants can also consider options for admission to college branches.
Certificate contest
Applicants enter the Polzunov Ural State College without any problems, stress and excitement, because there are no exams in almost all speci alties. Reception is oncertificate competition. The members of the selection committee for each applicant calculate the average score of the document on education (add all the marks and divide by their number). Further, after the end of the acceptance of documents, those applicants who have the highest average mark of the certificate are enrolled in the available places.
If there are only triples in the document, then most likely it will not work to enter the Ural State College. In college, competition among applicants is high. In 2017, the least popular was the speci alty "Insurance business", but even there was a competition. In this direction, 25 paid places were provided, and 34 applications were accepted. The passing score was 3.66.
Creative Entrance Test
Only one speci alty at Polzunov College has an entrance exam. It is provided for in "Advertising" and is aimed at identifying creative abilities in applicants. The exam is scheduled for a specific day. The date is communicated to all applicants in advance. Applicants bring a few sheets of A4 format, paints or colored pencils, as well as a container for water (if you plan to use paints).
The exam includes several tasks. First, applicants draw an image of a word, using only geometric shapes. Then the resulting drawing is slightly supplemented to convey a certain character, mood. After that, a color and verbal description is performed.
Passing a medical examination
In the Ural State Polzunov College there are several such speci alties that cannot be entered without passing a preliminary medical examination. These include:
- "Underground mining";
- "Installation and tech. operation of industrial equipment (by industry)";
- “Tech. operation and maintenance of electromechanical and electrical equipment.”
The need to undergo a medical examination is not a whim of management or a mere formality. There are certain contraindications for further work in the above speci alties. A medical examination helps to identify those diseases that may interfere with studies and future work.
Preparatory courses in colleges
In the Ural State College. I. I. Polzunov there are no serious exams, but you should not relax at the same time. To enter a state-funded place, you need to have a fairly good GPA. You can improve your knowledge in some subjects at the preparatory courses in college, designed for 3, 5 and 7 months. Applicants are offered 2 subjects - Russian and mathematics.

The USC of Yekaterinburg is spoken of as the most prestigious educational institution in the city. First of all, they note the presence of a huge number of speci alties, ranging from mining to economics. The advantages also include:
- conveniently located in the city center;
- beautiful building outside and cozy interior inside;
- availability of budget places;
- good material and technical base, which includes more than 100 classrooms and laboratories, 3 sports halls, a library with a reading room.
Disadvantages students do not name. Polzunov College simply does not have them, according to the majority of students. Only a few talk about a small dining room. You can put up with this shortcoming, because the main thing is to get a quality education. It is just provided in this educational institution.
