One of the largest specialized universities in the Southern Federal District is RSSU - Rostov State Construction University, which graduates professionals from a wide range of speci alties in the field of construction. Founded back in 1943 as an institute, in 1997 it "grew" to the status of a university, and since the spring of 2016 it has become the foundation (in alliance with DSTU) for education as a pivotal multidisciplinary university in the Rostov region.
History
In 1761, on the site where the university is located today, the Elizabethan redoubt of the fortress of St. Dmitry of Rostov was founded. But as an educational institution, it appeared in 1900 in the building of a commercial school, which 18 years later was reorganized and named the Don Commercial Institute. On December 16, 1943, an order was issued to establish the Rostov Civil Engineering Institute, and in 1992 it was granted the status of an academy. The result of another transformation in 1997 was the Rostov State University of Civil Engineering (RSSU).
Description
This higher educational institution trains students in three degrees (bachelors, specialists and masters), and also provides education on a budgetary and paid basis. There is a military department at the university, and a hostel for non-resident and foreign students.
Subdivisions
Students are trained at six faculties of the Rostov Civil Engineering University, which are designed as institutes according to:
- urban planning and architecture;
- economics and management;
- environmental systems;
- road and transport construction;
- building technologies and materials;
- industrial and civil engineering.
Training areas
Rostov State University of Civil Engineering provides training for higher education specialists in 38 educational programs. Students of this university subsequently become:
- engineers (for the production of building materials, products and structures; information systems and technologies; industrial and civil construction; water supply and sanitation; urban construction and economy; heat supply and ventilation, mechanization and automation of construction; highways and airfields; fire safety; emergency protection, etc.);
- engineers for the organization and management of transport;
- environmental specialists;

Teaching staff
More than two-thirds of the university staff are holders of academic degrees and titles. The teaching staff of RSSU includes more than 70 professors and doctors of sciences. Honored scientists of Russia (10 people) and advisers of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Building Sciences (6 people) work here. At two dissertation councils operating at the university, at least three doctors and thirty candidates of sciences are “born” every year.
Admission conditions
Rostov Civil Engineering University is waiting for applicants with secondary general (for bachelors and specialists) and higher education (for masters).
The set of the budgetary flow of students is limited by the established target figures for the admission of citizens at the expense of the state, which are divided into quotas:
- for privileged categories (children with disabilities, disabled people of groups 1 and 2, disabled since childhood, orphans, etc.);
- target quota is basic.
The selection committee of the Rostov Civil Engineering University (now part of the DSTU) conducts a separate acceptance of documents:
- by formseducation: full-time, part-time and mixed;
- for programs: bachelor's, specialist's, master's;
- on government quotas and tuition fees.
For each of the selected conditions, the university conducts a separate competition.
Deadlines for accepting documents
This is an important moment for those who are going to enter the RSSU. In order not to be late, you should remember that documents are accepted for the budget stream:
- for undergraduate and specialist studies: from 19.06 to 26.07 for full-time form and from 19.06 to 10.08 - for part-time;
- for Masters: from 10.01 to 25.01 and from 19.06 to 20.07, respectively.
Applicants to the paid department for undergraduate and specialist programs must submit documents on time from 13.06 to 15.08. For applicants with secondary vocational and higher education who enter an abbreviated form of study, documents can be submitted from February 1 to August 15.
Competition order
Rostov State Civil Engineering University selects students based on the results of entrance examinations and additional entrance creative or professional tests (for some areas)
The priority disciplines are mathematics and drawing (for the speci alties "architecture" and "urban planning"), and the auxiliary ones: Russian language, social studies, physics and drawing.
All entrance exams are graded on a 100-point system.
Passing score
RostovskyState Construction University enrolls applicants for training after gaining a certain number of points. For different speci alties, it can vary significantly. So, to enter the "automotive service" you need a minimum of 129 points, for "construction" - 130. In "applied geodesy" the mark is 134 points, a little more in "applied computer science and electronics" (145), "land management and cadastres » (171). Future urban planners will have to work much harder to enter this speci alty, they will have to overcome the barrier of 211 points. The most difficult thing for applicants to enter is "architectural design", in this direction the highest passing criterion of the university is set - 320.

This is a project of the Rostov Civil Engineering University (part of DNTU), participation in which provides a number of advantages in the learning process, namely, applicants will be able to:
- guaranteed to enter the chosen specialization;
- get an increased scholarship;
- get the 2nd higher humanitarian and economic education in parallel with the first one;

- do internships at foreign partner universities and be involved in various international programs;

- Achieve a cumulative score of 200-220 on three exams.
- Fill out an application for participation in the project.
- Provide original document of secondary education.
There is no competition for admission to elite education between applicants.
Preparing for admission in advance
Rostov Civil Engineering University within DNTU offers a wide range of pre-university training for applicants, which is implemented at the Academy of Applicants in the form of the following activities:
- Preparation for the unified state exam - offered to graduate students during school holidays.
- Small faculties - is an innovative form of work with high school students. Students of the stream, being still schoolchildren, can get an idea about their future speci alty before entering. Along with school disciplines, profile subjects are studied here according to a specific profile.
- Independent testing - is a demo test in all subjects, starting from the 2nd grade, in order to determine the residual knowledge of students by the beginning of the school year.
In addition, on the basis of the university, schoolchildren of grades 5-11 are offered training at the Sunday Computer School: the basics of programming, applied programming, etc.
Rostov Civil Engineering University - reviews
Among the "fresh" university graduates, there are different opinions:some argue that it is impossible to study without bribes (although such “experts” are found everywhere), others classify the university as the best in Rostov, with a high level of knowledge, good equipment and a variety of extracurricular activities.
Graduates who graduated from RSSU 20-30 years ago always characterize it as a "school of life", which provided knowledge in all areas, and not just in the speci alty, which is listed in the graduation diploma. This is especially true for those who studied at the university as an economist.
