Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy is a higher educational institution in Russia, which offers a wide range of different speci alties. Here they receive not only higher education, but also improve their qualifications thanks to acceptable educational programs of postgraduate education. Since 2017, it has been transformed into a university by special decree.
History
Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy - UGSHA, as it is called in short, dates back to 1943. With the outbreak of war, the Voronezh Veterinary Institute was evacuated to Ulyanovsk. It was on its basis that the academy was founded by a special decree of the Soviet government. The difficult years of the war required the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of agriculture, and the new educational institution became a forge of such personnel.
BIn 1994, the educational institution was subjected to attestation. After numerous examinations, the academy received a license and full right to carry out educational activities within the framework of higher and additional education.
On April 25, 2017, by special order of the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, the academy was given a new name - Ulyanovsk State Agrarian University named after P. A. Stolypin. The new status received by the academy requires a higher level of teaching. This is to improve the scientific and technical base and build up scientific potential.
Main faculties
At the beginning of its activity, the Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy could offer only three faculties. Applicants chose between veterinary, zootechnical (later they merged), later renamed zooengineering, and agronomic areas. Seven years later, in 1950, the faculty for the repair and maintenance of agricultural equipment joined them. Fifteen years later, the Faculty of Economics was opened.
Currently there are 4 faculties of the Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy:
- Faculty of Agrotechnologies, Land Resources and Food Production;
- engineering;
- veterinary medicine and biotechnology;
- Department of Economics.
All faculties teach in several dozen speci alties and prepare highly specialized specialists with a large store of knowledge and experience by the end of their studies. AfterUpon graduation, graduates are full-fledged specialists and can directly start working under the guidance of senior staff.
Academy majors
Speci alties of the Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy aimed at studying:

- enterprise management;
- merchandising;
- examination of goods;
- veterinarians;
- sanitary examination;
- biology;
- microbiology.
Also, students can study here the automotive industry and cars, technologies used in the agricultural sector. There is a speci alty related to the organization of catering and food production technologies.
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology
This faculty was founded in 2015. It appeared at the Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy due to the merger of the veterinary and zooengineering faculties. It has an excellent library fund, as well as a technical base.
The faculty has six own museums: anatomical, parasitological, pathoanatomical, zoological, veterinary and sanitary expertise and microbiological. All the exhibits in it have been collected by students and teachers since the day of its foundation, since 1943. There are several own laboratories equipped with everything necessary for continuous fruitful work.
Professional developmentGreat attention is also paid to the teaching staff. Each teacher once a year has an internship at existing facilities of agricultural enterprises, in various research institutes, as well as higher educational institutions abroad.
Preparation and admission
Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy does a great job helping yesterday's schoolchildren and graduates of secondary and special educational institutions to choose a speci alty and prepare well for entrance exams. In the senior class, all schools in Ulyanovsk conduct extra-curricular introductory classes. Teachers and graduates of the academy meet with the guys, represent the university, talk in detail about the field of science they work in. Since the university has an agricultural orientation, the main subjects in the state exams are Russian and mathematics, and the core subjects are chemistry and biology.
The university has full-time and part-time education. The full-time form involves daily attendance at classes for five years. After graduation, the student receives a specialist degree and, if desired, can continue his studies,by submitting documents to the magistracy or graduate school. All applications are considered. Students are paid a scholarship throughout the entire period of study.
Magazine issue
In 2005, the scientific and theoretical journal "Bulletin of the Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy" began to be published on the technical basis of the educational institution. It is registered with the press and is the official mass media not only within the framework of education. The publication has a wide range of authors. Here, students publish their scientific articles and research, as well as graduates who continue to engage in science. Since 2011, the Bulletin of the Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy has been included in the list of publications in which people who apply for any scientific degrees must publish their scientific work. The editor-in-chief is the Rector of the University, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Alexander Vladimirovich Dozorov.
The direction of the journal is connected with the activities of the educational complex. Articles considering the problems of economics, veterinary medicine, biology and agriculture are accepted for publication.

Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy named after Stolypin has the status of a confirmed educational institution and has the necessary licenses. This gives her the right not only to train specialists in various fields, but also to provide services for the retraining and recertification of already established employees. Academy holdsindependent scientific research in the field of agriculture, as it is one of the major universities in the region.

No Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy. Stolypin is also far from innovation. Herevarious meetings, conferences, forums, training seminars for youth are held monthly. The Academic Council and the leadership of the academy always meet the needs of talented students, support their innovative developments in the field of agriculture and biology.
As part of the Russian program "Entertaining Science", an exhibition-competition is held annually on the territory of educational buildings, where young researchers and inventors present their works. The School of Young Researchers was organized at the university. Schoolchildren of the city who are interested in the activities of the academy can always use the book fund or the material and technical base of the academy.
Famous Alumni
Despite the remoteness from the capital, the Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy is one of the strongest educational institutions in Russia. Once upon a time, such well-known persons as Alexander Vasilyevich Vrazhnov, Honored Agronomist of Russia, who later became director of the Chelyabinsk Research Institute of Agriculture, studied within its walls.
Another famous alumnus was Pavel Pavlovich Borodin, head of the affairs of the President of the Russian Federation from 1993 to 2000.
