After the end of the Great Patriotic War, the country began to gradually recover. Previously closed factories were opened, new enterprises were created. As a result, there was an urgent need for personnel. This served as an impetus for the opening of new faculties and speci alties at the institute, which at that time was already called polytechnic.
In subsequent years, the university developed rapidly. In 1991 it became a university. In 2009, in the history of the educational institution, there wasan important event that became the starting point of a new era. The university was given the status of a national research university. In 2013, TPU took part in one competition. In it, he won the title of the leading university in our country. There are few such universities in Russia. There are only 17 of them.
