State Shape: Types

What is the proposed concept? This is the political organization of the state, a certain way of exercising power, the relationship of state bodies and the division of the country into territorial units. The first component is the form of government, which is divided into a monarchy (power of one) and a republic (public power). Therefore, we can conclude that the form of government is a kind of organization of the highest or supreme power in the state. The second component is the political regime, which is divided into democratic (the power of the people) and anti-democratic (the power of the party/individual). Consequently, this component is a certain set of ways and methods for the bodies to exercise their powers. The last component is the forms of territorial structure. They will be detailed below.

Detailed description of the form of territorial structure

So, first of all, this term should be defined: it is a way, enshrined in the constitution, of interaction and mutual exercise of power between the territorial entities of a given state. It is generally accepted that there are only three such forms: federal, unitary and confederal. The first type is considered the most common. A federation (a form of the territorial structure of Russia) is a union of several relatively sovereign states. The next type is a unitary form - these are single states where one common constitution and other unified authorities operate. It is worth noting that local authorities exist, but do not have any sovereignty. The last type is a confederation, which is most often a political or other union of several states. As a rule, such an association does not have a unified executive, judicial and legislative bodies, as well as a unified army and a taxation system. There is a point of view that such unions are short-lived.

Theories of federalism

There are two most famous theories of federalism: the first is dualistic federalism and the second is the state rights theory. Dualistic federalism is a theory that recognizes the supremacy of federal law, and the subjects have independence in relation to the subjects of their jurisdiction, but do not have the right to secede from the federation. states rights theory,on the contrary, it implies a wider range of rights of territorial entities, up to their withdrawal.

Thus, the forms of the territorial structure of the state is one of its most important characteristics. Along with others, this feature helps to build a complete picture of the country's structure. What is the form of state territorial structure in Russia? This was stated above. Russia is a typical dualistic federation.
