Modern magistracy (master's degree or magistracy) is both the improvement of one's knowledge in a number of certain branches of science, and a serious step towards building a successful career, and a quite possible improvement in the quality of life or material well-being in the future. These reasons push both young and mature people to the second higher education and obtaining such a document as a master's degree.
Masters were called officials in ancient Rome. Later in Europe, the heads of various ecclesiastical or secular institutions were considered masters. Universities of the Middle Ages already offered several degrees after training: a master's degree, a bachelor's degree, and a doctor of philosophy. At the same time, in some countries, instead of a master, there was a licentiate. And in 1240, the rights of masters expanded significantly - from now on they had the opportunity to elect the rector of the university.
On the territoryRussian diploma, magistrate's degree appeared at the beginning of the 19th century along with the decree of Alexander I. At the same time, the title of doctor was introduced, and a little later - the candidate. The master occupied a middle position between a candidate (one who graduated from the university with excellent marks) and a doctor. He could receive the position and rank of titular adviser. In revolutionary times, at the beginning of the 20th century, all titles were abolished, and they returned only by the 90s.
Today, a master's degree in Russia and in the countries of the post-Soviet space is a course of study lasting 1-2 years, which is most often focused on research and scientific work. You can get a state master's degree only in universities with the appropriate level of accreditation (not less than IV) and the technical capabilities to complete the final work.
Admission to the magistracy is available only with a bachelor's degree in the same speci alty or in the same direction. The training program includes a theoretical course and independent research under the supervision of a supervisor. Everything ends with a final certification (dissertation defense, as a result of scientific research, and passing the relevant exams).
In the US, not all universities have the right to award a master's degree, but only those that have passed the necessary certification and have compulsory training programs. A master's degree is obtained after 1-2 years of passing a certain number of courses with final scores of at least "B" ("good"). Therefore, before making tuition fees, you shouldweigh your strength in the selected items. The performance of scientific work by a master student under the guidance of a professor or even a council of professors is not required in all universities. But if there is such a requirement, then the future master must have a creative approach and original, non-standard thinking.
In any country, being in the magistracy, you can take all sorts of trainings with full penetration into the real political, economic, cultural or social situation. Such experience and knowledge will become indispensable in the future when developing the strategy of one's own life and career.
A graduate with a master's degree is always more highly valued by the employer!
