Long ago, in 1711, on a cold November day in a small village in the Arkhangelsk province, Mikhail Lomonosov was born. His family was quite we althy. Father, Vasily Dorofeevich, was a Pomor peasant, and his mother, Elena Ivanovna, was the daughter of a churchyard mallow.

Only one of their daughters survived. Many years later, she married the son of a priest from Bryansk, Alexei Alekseevich Konstantinov. The offspring of the daughter of this great man still exist.
Mikhail Vasilyevich died in 1765 at the age of 54 after an unsuccessful cold. His grave is in the Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
