YarGU im. Demidov is rightfully considered one of the oldest educational organizations in Russia. The University is the successor of the Demidov Legal Lyceum. This educational institution was opened 2 centuries ago - in 1803. Its founder was Pavel Grigoryevich Demidov, a naturalist and philanthropist.

The lyceum, opened at the beginning of the 19th century, worked until 1919. Then it was transformed into Yaroslavl State University. Unfortunately, the duration of the existence of this university is estimated at only a few years, because in a short period of time after the opening of the YarSU, it was closed. In 1969, the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR"On the organization of the Yaroslavl State University". In 1970, the educational institution, re-established, opened its doors to those wishing to receive an education.

In the future, all its virtues will only become brighter and more distinct. YarGU im. Demidova intends to pay special attention to the following nuances:

  • for regular updating of ongoing programs with the involvement of employers who are able to give an adequate assessment and express their wishes regarding the organization of the educational process;
  • individualization of the learning process through the expansion of the range of courses offered;
  • integration of R&D and R&D results into educational programs, etc.

All activities planned for the development of the university will help improve the university's position in the rankings. By 2021, Yaroslavl State University will be among the top 25% of flagship universities.

In addition to the faculties, the university has a university college. It was created about 20 years ago in order to expand the list of educational services at the university. The work of the YarSU College P. G. Demidov began with the implementation of a small list of programs. However, this list gradually expanded, because the college was aimed at development.

This structural unit is interesting because it employs teachers from Yaroslavl State University, which means that educational services are provided of very high quality. There are only 13 educational programs of secondary vocational education at the University College of YarSU Demidov. For example, we can name several of them - “commerce (by industry)”, “land and property relations”, “banking”. Applicants can enter any direction having a basic general education. For 11th grade graduates, the list of educational programs is much smaller. It includes 6 directions.

Speci alties of secondary vocational education are in demand at Yaroslavl State University. This is confirmed by the statistics collected during the 2017 admission campaign. 232 people were accepted for training. Of these, 95 people were enrolled in the available budgetplaces.
