Altai State Medical University is one of the main universities of the Altai Territory and the leading among the country's specialized organizations. Graduating faculties of Altai State Medical University:
- Pediatric. It was opened in 1966. More than a thousand students are trained there. Despite the profile, students study disciplines related to adult diseases, which allows them to have a higher qualification at graduation.
- Dental. Founded in 1990. Offers the following dental profiles: surgical, orthopedic,therapeutic, periodontal, etc.
- Pharmaceutical. It has been preparing specialists since 1975. The work of the faculty is based on the principle of training specialists of a wide profile: one person can be both a pharmacist and the head of a pharmaceutical enterprise.
- Healing. The most numerous faculty that has been operating since the founding of the university. After completing the first stage, the graduate becomes a general practitioner.
- Medical and preventive. Practically the youngest structural unit (established in 2001). Trains specialists in the field of sanitary epidemiology.
International cooperation
Altai State Medical University is actively developing scientific and organizational ties with other countries. At the moment, the university has representatives of 19 states. A special faculty has been opened for them, training is conducted in English. Partner countries: Egypt, Nigeria, Syria, Mongolia, Ukraine, India, China, Uzbekistan and others.
A separate structural unit appeared in 2016, ASMU also opened a special educational building for foreign students, all are provided with a hostel.
Education of students from abroad is carried out in two directions: "Dentistry", "General Medicine". Preparatory courses are provided for this category of students, during which they learn the basics of the Russian language, biology, chemistry for 9 months.

Altai State Medical University pays special attention toattention to propaganda work among schoolchildren who are on the verge of entering a university. Various events are being held, associations are working, the purpose of which is to orient future applicants in the field of he althcare, identify talented young people, and attract them to the university.
Thus, for example, within the framework of the school "Young epidemiologist, hygienist and doctor of KLD", adolescents can independently conduct experiments and research on a chosen topic, participate in classroom and laboratory classes.
Club "Future Medic" conducts career guidance work with eleventh-graders who plan to become doctors, introduces educational buildings, teachers, and he alth care institutions of the city.
