The final stage of education in a higher educational institution is the delivery of final qualifying work (diploma project). Within its framework, research is carried out on a given topic, specific tasks are solved aimed at confirming the acquired knowledge. The project consists of several parts: theoretical, analytical and practical. An important element is the report for the thesis, without which it is impossible to defend it. The quality of this part largely determines the assessment, perception of the research done.
The report for the thesis work is built according to the standard scheme, according to the generally accepted structure. It reflects the essence and main parts of the project. The speech for the thesis begins with an appeal to the assessors: “Dear chairman of the commission, dear members of the commission! Allow me to present my thesis on the topic …! After such a greeting, the report is built according to the following scheme:
- the relevance of the project topic or its scientific interest (for example, in the case of providing a work on ancient history that is not relevant, but interesting from a scientific point of view);
- object and subjectresearch;
- purpose of diploma;
- set tasks that need to be disclosed to achieve the goal of the project;
- structure of the work: what chapters it consists of, their number;
- methodological and information sources of research.
After all this information, go directly to the content of each chapter. To do this, you should tell what work was carried out in the first chapter (you can also indicate its name) and the conclusions drawn from its information. Further, the narration goes on in a similar way about the subsequent parts of the graduation project.
After retelling the main points of the chapters, it is necessary to sum up. In this case, the report for the thesis can be formulated on the basis of the conclusion of the project, or simply state it without changing it. The final part should consist of answers to the previously specified tasks, a general conclusion on the entire project, a conclusion on the achievement of the goal of the diploma. After that, you should say about the promising direction of the topic of work, express your opinion on this matter. It should be noted that for clarity and better perception of the retelling of the content of the chapters of the graduation projectit is recommended to prepare a so-called handout - that is, figures, tables, etc., illustrating the data from the work. They should be printed in several copies and distributed to the members of the commission. Some graduation projects require the development of drawings, any layouts, design of objects. In this case, the handout is not needed.
Thus, the report for the thesis briefly outlines the goals, objectives of the project, their solution, the relevance of the topic in the modern world. A competent presentation contributes to a better perception, and further evaluation of the work done depends on this to a certain extent.
