From birth to death, a person has to constantly learn in order to survive, to adapt to changing reality, to find and know himself and to live his life wisely. The concept of continuous education, learning, self-improvement is present in many philosophical and scientific works. It continues to be supplemented to this day.
Why is continuing education necessary? Yes, just in order not to slip into the existence of patterns and stereotypes in situations. After all, life is so diverse and multifaceted that stopping in one's own development is a real crime.
The main difference between humans and highly developed animals is the ability to be creative. The ability to express oneself through creative work and the word, the ability to invent, rationalize and create has led humanity away from animals conditioned by reflexes, whose vital activity is aimed at ensuring their bio-survival and procreation.
People, thanks to the ability to learn and transfer their knowledge, first by word of mouth, and then with the help of writing, reached cosmic heights, penetrated into the atom, learned to cure terrible diseases, transformed the Earth, created many cultural monuments and works of art.
Knowledge is acquired from the school bench, and in some cases even earlier. There are methods for teaching very young one and a half year old babies to read, math and languages. School education currently includes subjects that further help to obtain technical or humanitarian speci alties. Continuing education can contribute to the comprehension of many sciences, systematize knowledge and apply it in practice.
But it would be wrong to say that lifelong education is good and nothing but good. Developing science and technological progress can bring humanity back to the level of animal existence. There is a beautiful caricature of the evolutionary development of man from ape to information age man and back to ape. This is not just a funny picture, it is a warning saying that labor has made a man out of a monkey, and the rejection of labor will lead people to an animal existence.
Many people understand this danger and try to counteract it to the best of their ability, at least in their family and immediate environment.
Famousscientists and futurologists are sounding the alarm, publishing articles and books, but the desire of mankind to increase their own well-being and comfort, the desire to easily pull a fish out of a pond is so great that the danger is ignored or seen as far away. Most people have grown accustomed to relying too much on technology in all areas of life, so soon they will not be able to sew their own clothes without a loom, bake bread, build a house, get food and drink, raise offspring, etc.
Only continuous education, self-improvement and self-knowledge, coupled with spiritual quest, can stop humanity near the abyss and prevent it from falling into it. But this should be understood not by a few, but by millions. Parents are obliged to pay as much attention as possible not only to the mental and physical development of children, but also to take care of their culture, creative realization and spiritual growth.
