The heroes of the works of Yevgeny Ivanovich Nosov often became ordinary people, people from the people. Despite the fact that the author describes natural landscapes in detail, conveys the depth of the characters of his characters with amazing accuracy, his narratives are extremely concise and dynamic. Such can be called the story "Varka". Nosov most likely would not have conveyed the summary of his already small work in a dry style. We, at our own peril and risk, will try to do this.
Volunteer Helper
The village girl, whom everyone calls Varka, has been working at the collective farm poultry house for the third consecutive summer. She volunteered to take on the responsibility of taking care of the little ducklings, helping the adults raise the bird. At the end of the next summer season, when fattened ducks were sent to a meat-packing plant, Varka promised herself not to come back here again.
Against my daughter's passion wasand the girl's mother. But as soon as Varka saw fluffy, loudly squeaking chicks in the spring, an unknown force pulled her to a distant river oxbow, where buildings for keeping ducks were located. On the day of the events described, Varka remained on night duty in the poultry house, replacing the worker Lenka Pryakhina.
How old is Varka?
It is impossible to do without describing the images of the main characters, conveying both the detailed plot of the work and its brief content. Varka… Yevgeny Nosov deliberately does not name either the last name or the age of his heroine.
The inquisitive reader is given the opportunity to figure out these details on their own. In the course of the story, we can guess that the girl is about 16-17 years old, because in one of the episodes she says that she will go to 10th grade in the fall.
Sasha-Gypsy is a stranger
Despite some understatement, we clearly imagine the pictures of village life and the characters of the heroes that Yevgeny Nosov masterfully describes. Varka is a mischievous girl, not without naive youthful romanticism and worldly ingenuity.
The second most important character in this work is a boy named Sasha. About three years ago, he appeared in the village with his mother, the gypsy Maria, who decided to change her nomadic life to a settled one. As a frail boy with frightened eyes, for the first time she saw a newcomer gypsy on the porch of Varka's collective farm administration. Nosov does not even describe the summary of their meeting, focusing only on the feelings of the girl. Shabby clothes of a smallwanderer, his restless appearance aroused pity in Varka, she really wanted the chairman Parashechkin to allow the gypsies to stay in the village.
Sashka is apparently the same age as the main character. But he does not go to school, because, having only two classes of education, he is embarrassed to sit at the same desk with the kids. The young man works on a collective farm, performing simple tasks: she grazes horses, brings bags of feed to the same poultry house. Sasha's dream is to become a machine operator. But for this you need to finish at least 7 classes. The boy takes lessons at home from the head teacher of the local school, and in his spare time he reads Pushkin.
Day chores and night wanderings
On this day, Sasha came to the poultry house with duck food. A guy with jet-black, curly hair was immediately surrounded by girls, who began to make sharp jokes at him. The gypsy in the village was not very favored and was a little afraid of the look of his deep dark eyes. Only Varka did not take part in the general fun. Nosov, of course, could not miss the summary of this episode. Here we begin to guess that the girl has some special, yet unconscious feelings for the boy. Moreover, they were not born now, but, perhaps, already from the first meeting. But Varka can't even admit it to herself.
In the evening, left alone on the farm with the watchman Emelyan, the girl with difficulty collects the ducks in the paddock. When the fed flock of birds settled down for a night's rest, Varka remembered how Lena Pryakhina preened herself when she went on a date. Young womanshe takes out simple cosmetics from her friend's bedside table, powders her tanned weather-beaten face. Looking in the mirror, she did not recognize herself - a pale, eyebrowless creature with black ears and a long neck was looking at her. Yes, and Varka's noses were such peeled "radishes" in none of her friends. Well, not everyone can be beautiful! Calling herself a bore and giving up on the idea of cosmetics, the girl runs to the lake to swim.
Meeting by the fire
Climbing out of the water, Varka heard the roar of a tractor plowing a collective farm field. The thought flashed through my head to run off to see who was sent to work at night. But while the girl walked around the lake, the tractor managed to go to the far end of the site. But not far away Varka noticed a flashing light and decided to go there to warm herself. To the surprise of the girl, there was no one around the fire, except for a grazing horse.
But soon the gypsy Sasha appears here. Between the young people a slightly strained conversation is tied up, which smoothly turned into a casual conversation. Varka learns about the young man's plans and his hobbies. At the request of the girl, Sasha even performs a gypsy dance.
Four more horses are grazing nearby in the log. Yielding to a sudden impulse, Varka offers the guy a ride. At first, he does not agree, and then sets off in pursuit of a horse that is carried away into the distance, on which, clinging to the croup with his whole body, the fearless Varka gallops. Nosov conveys the summary of this episode to us through the feelings and thoughts of the heroine: “Sasha! She almost certainly knew that heset off in pursuit. She even wanted him to chase after her.”
Of course, he caught up with her, grabbed her by the waist, transplanted onto the back of his horse. A hot kiss burned Varka's lips. The girl breaks free and runs away, leaving the guy completely bewildered.
When transmitting a summary of Nosov's story "Varka", it is impossible to fit all the melody and originality of the author's style. Therefore, we advise you to read this work in full, especially since it is perceived very easily, literally in one breath.
