In the syntax of the Russian language there are various types of connections between words in phrases.
Syntactic link is a language tool that expresses syntactic relations. That is, the relationship is the content side, and the connection is the formal one.
There is no strict correspondence between the relation and the form of its expression, that is, several types of syntactic connection may correspond to the same type of relation, and their number may vary depending on the morphological characteristics of the language. For example, the syntactic relations that a subordinating phrase with an adjunction can express are adverbial, attributive, complementary.
The whole variety of syntactic relations can be divided into composition and subordination. A coordinative connection is a connection based on the equality of its constituent components, a connection between units that are single-functional in their syntactic position. Some philologists also distinguish nominal adjunction, that is, a noun acts as a dependent word in a phrase.
