History
Dnepropetrovsk medical school was founded on the basis of the local Zemstvo hospital in early October 1870. Future paramedics were educated at the educational institution. The first graduation of specialists took place in 1872, out of 16 students, four received diplomas. By 1900, the number of students reached 96 people.
After the reform of the education system that took place in 1910, the Dnepropetrovsk Medical School began to enroll women, the total number of which in 1913 was 11 people. From the moment of its foundation to the revolution, the paramedic school has trained 604 paramedics and 11 midwives.
Since 1930, the educational institution changed its status - in the period 1931 to 1935 it was called a medical college, and in 1936 -midwifery college. The curriculum provided for training in feldsher, obstetric, nursing and sanitary and feldsher speci alties. From 1940 to 1954, the institution had the status of an obstetric school.
Modernity
During the war, the school was closed, hostilities and air raids destroyed the building. The educational process was restored only in 1943 - in rooms rebuilt by students and teachers. Today, this building houses City Hospital No. 10. The first year of students consisted of 270 people. In 1948, the Dnepropetrovsk Medical School admitted students to the departments - feldsher-obstetrics, feldsher, nursing and medical laboratory assistants.
The new building for the school was rebuilt in 1963. It was there that the Dnepropetrovsk Medical School was solemnly transferred. st. Heroes of Stalingrad, 23 and now remains a permanent address for many students. Today, the highway where the educational institution is located is called Bohdan Khmelnitsky Avenue, and the institution is called the Dnipro Basic Medical College.
Description
In 2010, the Dnepropetrovsk Medical School celebrated its 140th anniversary since its opening. At the present stage, more than 1 thousand students receive specialization within the walls of the educational institution. The two-level education system prepares medical personnel for the qualification of "Junior Specialist". Students choose the form of study - daytime or evening, onbudgetary or contract basis. Students from other cities and regions are provided with a hostel.
The staff of teachers consists of 123 teachers, the training program is conducted in four areas of specialization. The educational process is provided with a modern technical base, which includes computer classes with specialized software, laboratories, phantom training simulators, dummies, medical instruments, visual aids and methodological programs. An electronic database of educational programs, manuals, a library, an anatomical museum, etc. has been opened for students.

- Medicine. The total number of places is 90, of which 60 are free on the basis of 9 classes of secondary education, and there are no free places on the basis of 11 classes.
- Nursing. The total number of places is 210, free places on the basis of 9 classes are 150, there are no free places on the basis of 11 classes.
- Medical and preventive work. The total number of places is 60, education is provided on a fee basis.
- Obstetrics. The school can accept 90 applicants after the 11th grade, of which 30 receive free education.
Most students study on the basis of commercial contracts. The cost of one year of study in 2017 is 11 thousand hryvnia in any area of specialization.
Dormitory

The hostel is intended for non-resident students and is located next to the academic building at Bogdan Khmelnitsky Avenue (formerly Heroes of Stalingrad Street), building 23A.
