Teacher, educator, lecturer - this is not a job, not a profession and not a hobby. This is a calling. With such a psychological attitude, it is worth choosing a pedagogical university. There are quite a lot of such establishments in Belarus. The most famous of them is the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank (abbreviated designation - BSPU), functioning in the capital of the country.
About Maxim Tank
Applicants entering the Belarusian State Pedagogical University should know whose name the university bears. Maxim Tank is a Belarusian Soviet poet and statesman. He was born in 1912 and died in 1995 at the age of 82.
During the years of his life he wrote many poems. His first works were devoted to the struggle of the working people in Western Belarus for national and social liberation. During the Second World War, he wrote about the people-heroes who fought against the German fascists. And now for some history…
First information about the university (1914–1921)
Belarusian State Pedagogical University is called one of the oldest educational institutions. These are not just words. The university has indeed existed for more than a century. It was created in 1914. The institution was called the Minsk Teachers' Institute. At first, teachers were trained here.
After a few years, we decided to expand the activities of the higher education institution. In addition to teachers, it began to produce out-of-school and pre-school workers. In connection with these changes, the name was also changed. The university began to be called the Minsk Institute of Public Education.
Loss of independence and further development (1921–1941)
In the early 20s of the last century, the educational institution lost its independence. It became part of the Belarusian State University, became its structural subdivision. For about 10 years, the newly formed faculty and university followed the same path of development.
In 1931, the situation changed dramatically. The faculty again became an independent educational institution. Its new name is the Higher State Pedagogical Institute. In 1936, he was named after the famous Soviet writer - Alexei Maksimovich Gorky, and in 1941 the activities of the university were terminated due to the outbreak of the Second World War.
A new period in history (from 1944 to the present day)
Minsk Pedagogical Institute was not simply closed and forgotten. In 1944, it was decided to resume the work of an educational institution in Minsk. WithAt this point, the rapid development of the university began. This is confirmed by various awards. They were awarded to the institute for scientific achievements and special success in the training of teaching staff.
In 1993, there was a reorganization - the status of the higher educational institution was increased. From that moment on, it became known as the Belarusian State Pedagogical University. Another significant event in the modern history of the educational organization occurred in 1995. The name of Maxim Tank was given to a pedagogical university.
University currently
Belarusian State Pedagogical University has been able to achieve a lot in its 100 years of operation. From a small institute, it has grown into a leading pedagogical university in the state, has gained a good reputation, and has earned laudatory reviews from graduates and students. Belarusian Pedagogical University today is:
- Member of the Eurasian Association of Universities. This educational organization unites classical higher educational institutions from different countries. The inclusion of the Belarusian Pedagogical University in the EAU confirms the excellent quality of the educational process.

University structure
Belarusian State Pedagogical University. Tanka consists of structural units of two types. We are talking about faculties and institutes. There are 10 structural units of the first type. Here is a list of all currently operating faculties:

Introduction to the faculties of BSPU

More about some institutions
The youngest structural unit in the university is the Institute of Psychology. It was created in 2016. It provides training in two speci alties - "Practical Psychology", "Psychology".
The institute of inclusive education is also a young division. What does this term mean? Inclusive education is the inclusion of children with special needs in the educational process. Training at the institute is conducted in several speci alties - “Speech Therapy”, “Deaf Pedagogy”, “Tyflopedagogy”, “Oligofrenopedagogy”.
Passing marks
When entering faculties or institutions for budget places at the Belarusian State Pedagogical University, it is recommended to find out the passing scores. They can show what resultsapplicants became university students. Passing scores are stored in the admissions office and are listed on the BSPU website.
If we analyze the information, we can see that the highest result in 2016 was equal to 329 points in “speech therapy”. This indicator was slightly lower in the "fine arts" - 323 points.
Summing up, it is worth noting that the Belarusian State Pedagogical University is a modern educational institution. It offers not only classical speci alties, but also new areas of training needed in the modern world.
