There is hardly a person in our time who has not seen films about Sherlock Holmes or read books about how he deftly and quickly unravels the most complex incidents. Attention to detail and the method of deduction is the main secret of the success of this famous detective. Of course, the way the popular hero of A. Conan Doyle builds his conclusions is a real talent and rare skill.
Not every one of us can demonstrate the deductive method of Sherlock Holmes in action and the ability to notice all the details. However, these qualities can be developed in yourself. It all depends on the strength of desire.
Development of observation
There are no questions about observation - this useful ability to notice little things is quite within the power of anyone to develop. It has been proven that this quality can be trained at any age. Even Leonardo da Vinci recommended not to look at the world just like that, but to reproduce everythingseen with the mind's eye. K. Paustovsky advised, when looking, to keep in mind the idea that everything seen would need to be described with paints. The simplest exercise - "Observation while inhaling" - is available to everyone: you need to choose an object, carefully examine it while inhaling, and while exhaling, close your eyes and mentally imagine it, while trying to remember the maximum number of details.
Development of deductive thinking
Let's first understand what it is. The method of deduction is a way of logical thinking, which is based on the construction of particular conclusions from existing general provisions. In other words, it consists in the movement of thought from the general to the individual. The deduction method has its own clear rules, once proposed and substantiated by the mathematician R. Descartes. There are four of them, so it will not be difficult to remember:
- To accept as truth everything that is distinctly and clearly perceived, does not give any reason for doubt.
- Any complex thing should be divided into basic components in order to obtain the initial particles of knowledge.
- Cognition by thought should occur in the form of following from elementary, simplest and most understandable things to us to more complex and difficult to understand.
- During all these operations, take into account the fullness of the conclusions (for this you can use the list and classification).
The deduction method can be developed in various ways. Those who like to understand everything in detail can easily find the appropriate manual ortextbook with which to practice on problem solving. A good option would be spending time with a person with a well-developed logical thinking, communication with which would help to build the right conclusions. You can watch one of your friends' acquaintances about whom nothing was known, and then, in a conversation with a friend, check your conclusions about a person: how old, what he does, where he lives, etc. Yes, and watching the expression on the face and clothes of your friends can tell a lot.
How to further improve the applied deduction method
Give preference to detectives. Solve crosswords, puzzles. Try to find in any problem not one, but several solutions, and then, sequentially analyzing each one, choose the best one from them. In the deductive method, it is important not only to notice the little things, but also to be able to generalize the available information. Therefore, learn on the basis of individual facts to mentally collect a complete picture. Sooner or later, amazing results will appear. The main thing is to set yourself a goal and clearly follow the plan.
