Maxim Tank University is one of the oldest pedagogical universities in the Republic of Belarus. Its history is no longer even measured in decades; in 2014, the account moved to centuries. Pages of history: pre-war period
Maxim Tank University emerged, one might say, on social demand. At the beginning of the last century in the Minsk province there was a very great need for teachers, but the pedagogical educational institutions of the nearby cities, Vitebsk and Mogilev, could not satisfy it. The Emperor of All Russia Nicholas II himself wished to deal with this problem, who in 1914 issued a decree on the need to open an institute in Minsk that would trainteachers.
In the first years of its existence, the future Maxim Tank University faced some financial difficulties. There was one small building that could hardly accommodate students, and there was not enough furniture and books for everyone. However, the university endured hardships. Unfortunately, its first building has not been preserved, although it is known for certain that it was located where the park named after Yanka Kupala is now located in Minsk.
The future Maxim Tank University - at first it bore the name of Maxim Gorky - for some time belonged to the Belarusian State University. It became an independent educational institution only in 1931. And in the late 30s, the university was closed and continued its activities only in 1944.
Minsk Maxim Tank University after the Great Patriotic War
In 1946, the school moved to a new building. It still exists and is located inside the main building. The hall and the entrance to the Maxim Tank University are the same old building. A dozen new floors were built over it in 1989. This is how we know him today.
New name - Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank - an educational institution received in 1995, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. It still exists under this name today. What has the university become now, in the new millennium?

Today Maxim Tank Pedagogical University is the leading university inuniversity of the country in their area. It became the base for other large and famous higher educational institutions: the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts and the Minsk State Linguistic University.
Qualified teachers work at BSPU, many of whom are holders of academic degrees. They developed educational standards and basic curricula, which were then successfully introduced into pedagogical practice. The total number of publications of the employees of the graduating departments in scientific journals has already reached 1000.
