Structure of the Institute of Arts
The structure of the institute includes the faculty of culture and arts, additional professional education. The position of the dean of the faculty is occupied by Podguzova E. E. There are several departments on the basis of the faculty, detailed information about which is presented in the next section.
Chairs of the Institute of Arts
The following departments operate on the basis of the Smolensk State Institute of Arts:
- library information and museology;
- folk art culture;
- humanities and socio-economic sciences;
- socio-cultural activities, directing theatrical performances and acting;
- art of music.
The Department of Library and Information Activities and Museology was founded in 1996. In 2008, Associate Professor and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Mertens E. S. was appointed to the position of head of the department. The number of teachers of the department includes holders of honorary diplomas of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and honorary workers of higher professional education of the Russian Federation.
Department of Humanities and Social and Economic Sciences of the Smolensk State. Institute of Arts was founded on September 1, 2016. The position of the head of the department is occupied by associate professor and candidate of philological sciences Ivanova Yu. V. The teachers of the department take part in international scientific and practical conferences and seminars, as well as on an ongoing basis, without delay and quite successfully pass advanced training courses. Teachers participate in writing and publishing educational monographs, scientific and methodological manuals.

The Smolensk Institute of Culture and Arts trains specialists in more than 10 areas. Education is available both full-time and part-time.
Students have the opportunity to apply for the following area of study: "Museology and protection of cultural and natural heritage." Full-time education has a duration of 4 years, part-time students must study 5years. For admission to this direction, it is necessary to successfully pass the entrance examinations in the Russian language, social studies and history. On average, to pass successfully, you must score at least 36 points in each subject.
Full-time and part-time forms are also available in the direction of training "Socio-cultural activities". For admission, you need to pass entrance tests in the following subjects: literature, Russian language, social studies.
Direction of preparation of bachelors - "Library and information activities". For admission, it is required to pass exams in the Russian language, social studies and literature. On average, for each entrance test, you should score more than 37 points out of 100.

All entrance examinations held within the walls of the Smolensk State Institute of Arts, in Russian. For each direction there is a profile subject, the results for the exam in which, in controversial options, are a priority. It is also worth noting that the normative documents of the university have a provision on the minimum values for entrance exams. If the applicant scores lesspoints than indicated in the normative document, he is not allowed to participate in the competition for admission.

For admission to the training programs of the Smolensk State Institute of Arts, applicants must submit the required documents to the admissions committee within the established time frame. College SEI HPE "Smolensk State Institute of Arts"
A college also operates on the basis of the Institute of Arts, providing students with the opportunity to receive a secondary specialized education. The college programs of the Smolensk State Institute of Arts includedirection "Librarianship". The duration of this program is 34 months. Education is conducted on the basis of 11 classes. For admission, you must successfully pass the competition of certificates. Budget places allocated 10.
Also, specialists in the direction of "Solo and Choral Folk Singing" are being trained. Education is conducted both on the basis of 11 classes and on the basis of 9 classes. The term of study is 46 months. Budget places allocated 6.

Studios for kids
Also on the basis of the university there are special studios for children's creativity, namely the studio of aesthetic development "Steps". Boys and girls aged 5 to 8 are invited to study.
